Afoneish

This small town of 1300, on the island of Big Caorach, sits at the mouth of the Afon and is the primary settlement on the island. A 2 room stone castle, surrounded by a 3 ft thick stone wall on two sides, offers protection to the people of the town and the marchlord. That castle is the seat of the marchlardship, and as such technically the home base of the heir to the Duke of Herulia.

Defences

12 guards are employed to guard the castle, and a further 60 are available to be called up in defence of the town. The castle has crenelations and battlements, and so is a very defencible location.

Infrastructure

2 peirs jut out, both into the rivver, allowing for easy access to the ocean and a safe spot for boats. The protected harbour the river offers is very appreciated by the boatsmen.
