The Reach is Annexed

The Reach is officially annexed into the empire after years of near client state status as they feared of being invaded and decimated once more after the brutal war of the Roughlands and their annexation. While tensions still run deep in the hold, remembering what the empire did to the once proud kingdom and its people, the government installed after the first Reach War that has been passed on from person to person since martial law was declared after the overthrow of their king met with imperial diplomates in the decades proceeding with talks about joining the rest of the continental empire. Fearing they would be invaded once more and to devastating effect with little to no standing army to protect the frail kingdom, the decision was eventually made to join the empire and re-initiate trade to help fund the rebuilding of the kingdom. Much of this money over the years was spent on the hold's defenses, including a fortress in the Greypeak Mountains in the south, which would eventually be deserted for unknown reasons
