The Golden Star Journey

A bright circus and parade is created in every City-State with the obvious largest being in Aku.

The loved ones that have been lost (especially that year) are mourned and celebrated in the walks from the cemeteries or graveyards to the circus down flamboyantly colorful parade roads. At the circus each person to have passed since the past year’s celebration has their permanent tombstone crafted with symbols relating to their life’s journey and family history by those close to them. The collective efforts of all involved allow for enough ambient magic in the area for the spirits to commune with those that lie across the mortal coil.

History

When Ginnir left the mortal realm after finishing their duties, the people mourned for the passing of the great soul. Acknowledging their loss, Ginnir offered a method to celebrate and visit every year. Ginnir called forth his earliest priests to the Sleeping Mountains and gave them books wrapped in cloth with rules and the knowledge to construct the first soul bridge for the Golden Star Journey.

Execution

Every year on the Seventh Day of the Seventh Month, every City-State contributes and pitches a large circus tent to house an abundance of divine magic flooding the area. As people arrive to set up for their own celebrations to the area, they are often found carrying a variety of items and light sources. From the skies, one could see the roots of a grand tree carrying light towards the large seed of the circus tent and a flower of celebration blossoming around it.

Components and tools

For the items to adorn the tombstones, burial mounds, graves, etc. of the fallen; there are not specific items required for the duty. What matters is that the persons bringing items to support and sustain the soul bridge bring things that bear meaning between the living or dead in regards to the dead. In this way, a descendent with no personal meeting of an ancestor may still meet the ancestor by baring a part of their life to commune with their heritage.

For some common ideas, people have been know to use some of the following: paintings, coin, art, written story, instruments, weapons, jewelry, foods, and alcohol.

Participants

The Medics under Ginnir are the main administers of the Golden Star Journey. They band together into a seven pointed star formation to channel divine magic at each major local so that the worship and remembrance of those no longer on the material plane may have a stabilized stay for the brief time interacting with their loved ones. Their importance comes in their sacred duty of holding the soul bridge and maintaining the safety and well being of the believers.

The most important persons in the Journey are those that have past since the previous Journey was performed. These are the souls freshest and usually with a heavier weight for those they have left behind.

Of course, all separated by the mortal coil are important. Of note, there has been recordings of previous masters being brought over to commune with their apprentices and greeting newcomers since their departure. Within the Moonlight Ravens, Mages Guild, the spirits of previous archmagis & scholars commune to give their input on new dissertations, intellectual challenges, and presenting their last thoughts on their unfinished works.

Observance

The Journey is hosted every year one the seventh day of the seventh month with a seven day celebration. Where most celebrations in Akun occur in relation to phases of the moon, there are some that follow the holy numbers of gods.
