Academy Arcane
"Undisciplined magical activity inevitably germinates pestilent entities and institutions." -- Captiosus, First Archmagus of Akkadia, ca 1060 ACF
If anyone on Akkadia practices magic that does not come from the gods, that person must study at the Academy Arcane. The strict regulations on magical practitioners stem from the War of Undeath and the popular belief that should magic not be controlled by the state, necromancy might return to Akkadia, starting another prolonged and deadly conflict. To this end, Inquirants exist to find those with magical potential at a young age, Praeceptors teach those fledgling arcanists, called Wards, and Judicaires enforce the Code Metaphysical.

Public Agenda
Regulate the arcane arts in Akkadia in order to create a peaceful future.
History
Born out of a desire for peace, and perhaps paranoia, the Academy Arcane was founded in 1060 ACF as a means to eliminate the darkest forms of magic from Akkadia. Since its founding, the Academy has strived to provide tutelage to those with magical potential, as well as punish those who disobey the Code Metaphysical, which prohibits certain magical activities and disciplines. Today, the populace views the Academy as both necessary and overbearing.
