Session 2: Seek the Keep Report
General Summary
The Swift family first leads the party up the main road to the keep, but they almost immediately come across a group of cultists and kobolds looting the homes up ahead. The party takes on the group, but are ambushed by a few that were hiding in the homes they were looting. Egan goes down, but is swiftly revived by the two healers in the party, and they are able to successfully defeat the encounter.
After taking out the raiders, the party returns to the Swift family for directions. Cuth, alarmed by the encounter and concerned for the safety of his wife and children, suggests that they avoid the main route (as he had first recommended) and take to the streambed to the south. The streambed, he explains, winds along the southern edge of the village and right past the hill upon which the keep rests. The party agrees, and they backtrack and head south instead.
With increased caution after their close encounter, the party becomes aware of another, smaller group of raiders, and they are able to take the raiders by surprise, defeating them with minimal casualties.
From there, they continue south and reach the streambed. They proceed along the bank, maintaining caution and stealth, and manage to avoid running into any more raiders until they reach the keep. There, the party provides a barrier while the Swift family hurries inside; as the party follows in after them, the guards close the gates with an air of finality. Outside, the raiders have started to gather, surrounding the keep... and it seems as if the guards don't expect any more townspeople to make it past them.
