The Nobel house of Duraze
In the beginning of era 2, when the kingdom of Maedoria first rose, Lady Ashana Duraze was given nobility of the land of Nacaria. As the protector of the weak and champion against Rancimor, she was given the task of leading the people to settle south of the capital. Lady Ashana being a noble and kind woman helped usher in the beginning of peace within the kingdom. After settling down she wanted to ensure that the Duraze family would remain protectors of the people, so she devised a test. The Iduicium, otherwise known as the judgment.
At age 18, the children of the current head of the Duraze house leave home to journey on their own and spread peace and protection wherever they go. They do not return home until called back when the head of the house dies or decides to step down, at which time they are judged too see who of the children has helped people the most. Once Judged the victor of the iduicium becomes the next head of the house.
Every perspective lord or lady of the family must go through this process in order to prove themselves worthy of following in the footsteps of lady Ashana.
