Qualifications
Aeldrich scholars consider themselves as intellectuals and academics, seeking ancient knowledge and lost secrets. Should a scholar be found ignorant of such things then they are not a scholar at all..

This does not necessarily reflect their social status in general (for example, magic fearing societies will still hold them with caution at best), but among other intellectuals, they usually enjoy a certain level of respect.

Normally only those with some sort of access to academia can gain the knowledge needed to be an Aeldrich scholar. Whether through a college, aristocratic tutelage, or a learned mentor, a scholar undergoes an education that becomes their purpose.
