Unbound Satarre

The Unbound Satarre are a rare and mystical offshoot of the Satarre species, known for their enigmatic bond with the World Tree of Aigusyl. While most Satarre walk paths of Elemental mastery in scorched peaks or volcanic chasms, the Unbound have turned their back on the raw fury of earth and flame, instead seeking balance in the intertwining roots of reality itself. These Satarre have made their home deep within the metaphysical folds of the World Tree, existing in hidden hollows and spiraling bioluminescent groves only reachable through planar alignment or ancestral calling.

Marked by smoother, bark-touched scales and glowing veins of luminous sap-like ichor, the Unbound Satarre appear more ethereal and serene than their ember-forged kin. Their eyes often shimmer with layered rings of pale green or silver, mimicking the spiritual aura of the World Tree. This offshoot feeds upon the outer bark and exposed rootflesh of the World Tree—an act not of desecration, but of communion. The sap grants them visions of the multiverse, strange dreams of other planes, and whispers from distant spirits anchored to the Tree.

Many believe that this bond with the World Tree has slowly altered their emberhearts. Unlike their kin, whose elemental affinity burns bright and wild, the Unbound Satarre's emberhearts are attuned to planar energies, allowing them to bend reality in subtle ways. They may walk unseen through rootpaths, sense emotional ripples through the world, or slip briefly between veils of existence. Some become planar navigators, others spirit-bound scholars who record the memories encoded within the World Tree’s rings.

Culturally, the Unbound have abandoned much of the ritualism and tribal conflict of their ancestors. Their society values introspection, balance, and the preservation of ancient truths. Elders among the Unbound act as root-guides, aiding travelers, spirits, or even gods who seek deeper access to the Tree. Yet, they are not pacifists—if the World Tree is threatened, the Unbound rise with quiet, righteous fury, wielding strange Hybrid magics that call upon both primal draconic essence and planar echoes.

Despite their serenity, the Unbound Satarre are often viewed with suspicion or awe by outsiders. Their strange practices—whispering to roots, sleeping in trance-like states for days, or emerging from thin air—can unsettle even seasoned travelers. Yet, those who earn their trust find some of the wisest, most far-seeing allies in all of Aigusyl.

To be Unbound is to live within the pulse of the multiverse, to taste the sap of destiny, and to hear the heartbeat of worlds through root and dream. They are the quiet watchers beneath the bark—not forgotten by the flames, but forever changed by the stars.

Unraveling Touch

You can use your action to attempt to tear at the reality that keeps a being together. Choose a creature that you can see within 30 feet. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature that fails the saving throw must use its action each turn to repeat the saving throw as it attempts to keep itself in one piece. On a successful save, the effect ends on the target. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.
