Azureborn
Azureborn are a striking, harpy-like species gifted with keen insight into fate and the unseen. Possessing the upper torsos of elegant humanoids and the lower bodies and wings of cerulean-plumed birds, Azureborn are draped in feathers that shimmer like sunlit waves. Their eyes, often deep indigo or vibrant sapphire, carry an otherworldly stillness—eyes that seem to look through time itself.
Born beneath open skies or near secluded sea cliffs, Azureborn believe themselves to be children of both wind and water, claiming spiritual kinship with ancient sky spirits and ocean-bound omens. Legends say they were formed at the dawn of foresight, when a passing storm brushed against the Weave and scattered droplets of prophecy across Aigusyl. Wherever those droplets fell, the first Azureborn emerged, their cries echoing with the voices of what was yet to come.
Mystics by nature, Azureborn possess a natural aptitude for divination magic, often mastering spells like Augury, Foresight, and Divination from a young age. Rather than study traditional arcane tomes, they read wind patterns, cloud dances, and the ripple of tide against stone—believing the world itself is a codex of hidden futures. Many Azureborn live in solitude or in high-altitude eyries, where silence allows them to hear whispers from the threadbare edge of destiny.
Culturally, Azureborn value truth over comfort, and often deliver their visions without embellishment or tact. They do not lie, but neither do they always explain—believing it is not their role to alter what is seen, only to share it. This often makes them revered as prophets, feared as heralds of doom, or hated as fatalistic meddlers. Still, powerful figures across Aigusyl—rulers, high priests, warlords—often seek their council in times of uncertainty.
In combat, Azureborn are evasive and precise, striking with razor-sharp talons and windswept agility. Their magical prowess lends them a strategic advantage, allowing them to anticipate movements and read their opponents like unfolding scrolls. Though rarely aggressive, they are known to fight fiercely when their sacred sites are threatened or when fate demands their intervention.
To many, the Azureborn are a paradox—aloof yet deeply connected, serene yet severe, bound to the present while endlessly watching what lies ahead. Whether perched atop a scrying spire in the Moonlit Highlands or soaring above The Sapphire Sea on errands of prophecy, their presence is a reminder that even in chaos, something—someone—is always watching the thread.
