Xvarts

Xvarts are a petty Demirace of humanoid Outerfolk. Like many other Outerfolk, they do not reproduce sexually, but by an unnatural mechanism. In the case of the xvarts they are spawned from a device created to the purpose, a narrow gateway of corrupted Yliaster called a Warp Schism, which uses the corrupting influence of the Void to create xvarts from the ritual sacrifice of other, intelligent beings. The Schisms were created by a demonic servant of the Colossi, who, having displeased the other powers of the The Abyss by allying with the Outerfolk, designed the Schisms such that when used, they produced replicas of himself in an attempt to thwart his pursuers. Thus, all xvarts are identical.
The xvarts occupy warrens deep within the earth, where they do the bidding of less physically stable outerfolk, usually offering tribute in the form of plunder and sacrifices to the Slaad or Mind Flayers in exchange for the Void energy needed to activate the Schism and replenish their numbers.
