Rahk-dzen
Rahk-dzen is a draconic phrase. It means, roughly, 'the coming and going of things' and is applied to a range of academic and arcane disciplines studying balance and imbalance in nature and Magic. Central to the study is the principle of Dzenmisa and the function of Draconic Magic.
After the Cataclysm, the dragons developed ways of reinforcing the weakened dzenmisa of the broken world, arts which were distinct from the more aggressive forms of magic practiced by the other races. Some small number of wizards have studied draconic magic sufficiently to attempt to recreate these arts, which they refer to as 'Jenamancy.' This art is highly specialised, with a radically different theoretical basis to other arcane magic. As a result, it has both a very different mystical signature to more conventional magic, and works using very different formulae, with the result that jenamancers and other wizards must convert a spell from one form to the other in order to learn it.
There are also violent and destructive arts, often associated with the Colossi and Outerfolk, which tear at the remaining harmony of the world to achieve similar effects. This is sometimes known - especially by practitioners of the post-draconic methods - as Red Jenamancy, as opposed to the gentler Blue Jenamancy. In many places, however, the distinction is considered invalid, and the dragons in particular refuse to recognise any relationship between jenamancy and rahk-dzen.
