Languages
Aiaosian linguistic studies typically divide languages into six families, each of which is descended from a particular root language. In addition, there are a number of 'common tongues' which combine various roots in distinct, but often similar ways. The main families are, by broad concensus, Titanic, Draconic, Primordial, Legionary, Immaterial and Extraontological languages.
The Titanic family includes the bulk of mortal languages.
The Draconic family descends from the language of Dragons and their Primordial Dragons creators.
The Primordial family belongs to those with elemental bonds.
The Legionary family encompasses languages descended from the Dark Speech.
Immaterial Languages relate to the language of the gods, known as the Divine speech. The various immaterial languages are not closely related, however, each taking aspects of the incredible breadth of Divine, but none encompassing the whole.
Extraontological, or Non-Aiaosian, languages are those that originate beyond the Voidskin. They are exceptionally rare, and have no single root. Their use is also viewed with some suspicion.
There also exist a number of hybrid Common Languages, which are used to facilitate contact between peoples.
