Belcoza and the Southern Coast

Belcoza was one of the original refugee cities on the Free Coast, a shanty town surrounded by a wall of flotsam and jetsam, which managed to defy an empire. It has a pleasant climate and good soil, although it lacks the Southern Crownlands' year-round harvests. The Southern Coast province, of which Belcoza is the administrative centre, is primarily agricultural, with a strong navy armed with Inlander weapons.   Belcoza is located in the far north of the Southern Coast. The fortified harbour of South Point guards the southernmost point of the province, and keeps watch over Bungara with its flotilla of stoops, doing all that it can to curb the Empire's slaving activities.   The wealth of Belcoza lies in trade, in particular in acting as an intermediary for Harmos, shipping their products to other countries. Zingrans often look on the 'Plank City' as an inferior harbour, mercantile port and city to Zingra, but Southerners are proud of their city, and note that they remain the Inland's preferred trading partner. They regard the Crownlands as rather decadent, and often draw unflattering comparisons to the excess of the old Empire recalled in lurid tales.
