Castleton

Castleton is a city on the border of The Howling Plains and Vesmos, nestled against the base of The Razor's Edge. A small, defensive outpost most of its inhabitants are soldiers and adventurers from the Mercenaries' Guild. Here on the edge of The Howling Plains, the threat of raids is a nightly concern, the climate is harsh and resources are scarce. It is by no means a place most people would want to live. Those that do live there are hardy, determined folk, mostly Vesomites, but a few half-orcs and other monstrous races - outcasts from their own people have come to settle in the city. The people of Castleton have come to warily accept allies wherever they might find them.
Castleton's governor is Aaron Boralis, an officer in the Mercenaries' Guild. He organizes the mercenary forces as well as the Vesomite soldiers. In terms of civilians, there are almost no true civilians. Retired adventurers and ex-soldiers run the market, the inn, and hold any other civilian posts in the city. There is no room in Castleton for someone who cannot defend themselves.
