An

An (Anu, Yahweh, The Divine One) is the leader of Clan Naofah and the founder of Neamh.

O Prince of the gods, whose utterance ruleth over the obedient company of the gods; Lord of the horned crown, which is marvellously splendid; thou travellest hither and thither on the raging storm; thou standest in the royal chamber to be admired as a king.
At thy word the gods cast themselves on the ground in a body like a reed on the stream; they command blows like the wind and causes food and drink to thrive; at the word the angry gods turn bck to their habitations
May all the gods of heaven and earth appear before thee with gifts and offerings; may the kings of the countries bring to thee heavy tribute; may men stand before thee daily with sacrifices, prayers, and adorations.
To Uruk, thy city, do thou show abundant favor; O great god Anu, avenge thy city in hostile lands.
— Hymn to An, Talamh

Appearance

An appears to be a young, thin man with long, pristine white hair. He rarely shows emotion, and when he does it is subtle and fleeting. His skin is pale and his frame is lean, but not gaunt. An's eyes are a deep, captivating blue, and are perhaps the single feature that most remember.

An wears only white to match his long, white hair. Against the black halls of Illidian Starstone and Starmetal, An stands out like a bright star among the black of space.

While he is the most senior of all Illidians not living within the confines of Avalon, he does not appear to be any older than the youngest of Iliidians who are of age.

It is rumored that An does not carry any weapons because as a Temporal Herald, he does not need them. Some outliers believe claims he can "unmake" anyone who has not passed The Trials of the Starstone by erasing them from time.

Personality

An is motivated, above all else, to remain in power. He would sacrifice as many Illidian lives as it takes in order for him to control the Council and remain the head of Illidian politics. In his mind, he is their king and the council is a farce to grant the illusion of choice to his subjects.

An believes that only he can keep the Illidian race going, and without him they would have died off eons ago. For this reason, he will defend his grip on the remaining Illidian clans at all costs.

An is barely tolerant of other Illidians. Even those of his own clan are a nuisance to him. He prefers solitude and enforces it with legions of Aingeal keeping petitioners at bay until such a time as the Council is called to order. It is a common musing to say there are ten clans of Illidians: the original nine plus An.

As such, An does not even take interst in the teaching or raising of his own children. Most barely get more than a few disappointed words from their father and only his eldest son and heir Yeshua is allowed audience with An outside Coucil.

An loves a golden metal discovered by his Cherubim called Orichalcum so much that he has built the City of Neamh almsot entirely from the material. It appears as gold but is stronger than steel. Some feel that Neamh is gaudy in the way it shines with golden light, while others believe it is beautiful.

More than gold, An loves the color white. It is the color of Clan Naofah. It is the color of his Aingeal's wings. An's love for white has permeated Illidian society so throughly that few other clans wear any white, and the Priom of Clan Naofah only wear white when they are to be in the presence of An himself.

An's singular flaw is his overconfidence in himself. Ever since the events of The Second Universe, he has held fast that he is the only way for the Illidians to find salvation. He is fully conviced that without his management and intervention, the Illidian race would already be extict, and with them, the Mataeria.

Celestial Song

An is one of three Illidians to initially decipher The Celestial Song and lead the charge to overthrow the Kosmaera. As a Temporal Herald, he wields great power and authority over other Illidians: even those created during the First Universe.

As a Temporal Herald An can manipulate time. The extent of his power over time has never been fully explored, and the limits of his power are unknown to all except An.

The few times he has expressed his power to other Illidians have revealed An to be able to appear great distances away and seemingly stop time for himself and others. An often uses this ability to have private conversations with no record of the conversation having happened. He most often uses this ability when issuing orders to Fujin.

Whatever the limits of his power, An chooses to wield them sparingly. Most have never witnessed him tap into The Celestial Song, leading to a widespread belief among younger Illidians that he has no power and rules only through intimidation and deceit.

Duties

Seated at the head of the Illidian Council, An controls nearly every aspect of Illidian life, thanks in no small part to Heylel and the destruction wrought during the Ethereal Wars. An controls the flow of Starstone by posession the largest remaining repository of the mineral, he controls the flow of Noz Cohayim through his command of The Machine Gods of Clan Kamhi, and he dictates policy through his grip on the council.
