Ithel

Ithel was a legendary druid and the founder of Carrithel. She defined her field on the dynamics of life, and collaborated with the greatest minds in the country, building a reputation as a beloved academic. As her career progressed, Ithel spent more and more time in the Shadowfell, and she cultivated the little world which would become Carrithel.
She died young, and permanently; only a True Resurrection can bring her back.

Legacy

Her memory is particularly celebrated in Pteridae, out of a combination of pride and guilt. Pteridae is where a lot of her work was done, and Pteridae funded the expedition which caused Ithel's death.
The people of Carrithel don't think about their founder as much as expected. Some people like to muse over where they came from, and what Ithel's plan was for their particular community, but trying to dissect her motives hasn't turned up any practical results; Ithel didn't seem to leave anything useful to her creations.
The mystery surrounding Ithel's goals makes it difficult to answer the next pressing question: was she right to create Carrithel as she did? In some ways she made exceptional use of the time she was given: many of her works were overzealous and weren't thought out very well, but she saved multiple species which may have gone extinct if she had acted later. Most of her projects were just too big to be completed safely, and some factions agree that she should never have had so much power in the first place. In the end, did the great things she accomplished outweigh the costs? And even if they did, should Ithel have been the one to make that call?

Life

Circumstances of Birth

Ithel was born in a small town from a distant continent; not much else is known. Somehow she ended up on a ship to Agrophon at the age of 15, at the end of a truncated apprenticeship. Ithel never found it important to elaborate on that particular journey.

Circumstances of Death

Ithel was killed by an expedition headed by some of her former friends. They had discovered the rate at which Carrithel's monsters were multiplying, and they decided to behead what could become a runaway army.
