Iatres Vole

A talented healer, with both magical and nonmagical training, who travels around Kudo and Ankudo. He occasionally teaches his skills to anatomists and magicians in Bancesker.

Reluctant adventures

Iatres knows a bit about fighting, and he carries a sword and shield when he needs to visit dangerous territory. He isn't happy when his adventurer friends drag him into fights--it's happened at least twice before--but he's also afraid to be seen as a coward, since several of his friends have gone to fight on the front lines. Despite all he's done as a healer, he always seems to be looking for ways to prove himself, sometimes to an unhealthy extent.   Iatres doesn't call himself an adventurer; he deeply admires the ones he meets, befriending and helping them out whenever he can. To help in the Duumvirate War, he hopes to win over one of the greatest adventurers who ever lived: the ancient Marcia Aufidia. Over the past few years, he's been tracking down her grave, and trying to convince her followers that it's the perfect time to resurrect her.   Developments - Act II
No matter how bad the war got, Iatres could always keep working. But Marcia's return, as a hand of the Duumvirate, was so devastating that it just might kill him.   He gave up more and more of his life to the single goal of killing the monster he created. But as Marcia herself tells him, he's become the sort of thing she hates most about this age of Agrophon. Instead of doing something that might actually fix his mistake, he's throwing his life away to an unwinnable battle, because what he really wants is to be free of consequence. If he really wants to do something right, Iatres has to survive--that means running away from Marcia for the rest of his life.   Iatres' friends think it's absurd that he keeps going after Marcia, even after that warning. But Iatres is still smart, and he heard more from Marcia's words than she intended. She wasn't trying to give him good advice. She was trying to keep him quiet. Marcia is a famously intimidating hero, and knows how to make people run away, but Iatres is starting to see through her.
