Hendecy

Hendecy has only a tentative foothold in Agrophon, a small territory between Kudo and Aphygia surviving on trade. In 556, it was formed out of eleven city-states and a few dozen towns, and despite their shared title, they're mostly independent of each other. They stick together mostly for defense and representation; in fact, their neighbors Kudo and Aphygia helped to lump them together, to make diplomacy a little more convenient. While it wasn't a disaster, travelers should be warned: some people still hate to be called Hendecians.   The nation has condensed a lot in the past hundred years, and sparsely populated lands have evolved into sprawling cities. This has made it safer to travel and expanded production such that Hendecy can share its staple products with the rest of the continent. Some people miss the pastoral quality of their old homes, even stirring up unrest when they feel enclosed by the newer bits of Hendecy. This is best exemplified when people defiantly practice the tradition of lighting huge bonfires at parties: it's a serious fire hazard, especially in the winter, and the resulting smoke often lingers aggressively, choking the air for miles around.   Because every part of Hendecy has different laws and customs, it's home to some of the friendliest and unfriendliest towns in Agrophon.

Demographics

Hendecy has a humble agricultural focus as well as a proud network of musicians and crafters. The country receives artisans from across Agrophon and beyond, as well as some interesting visitors from the Feywild. Many Hendecian communities are too poor to travel, and only interact with the outside world through travelers and immigrants. Hendecy has a small military, which it was forced to change by the Duumvirate War.
