Gnaeus Devinctus Lampen

Born in Geranaea, he moved to the Caesiate in 722 to train as a cleric and someday perform a Mass Resurrection. He's an accomplished martyr, avoiding direct conflict his whole life and only growing more defeated when he accepted his new career. He knows how to take a fall for the sake of others. Taking a stand is far more difficult.   Lampen was assigned to complete a resurrection in Traive, where several densely packed graveyards brimmed with dead soldiers waiting for a second chance. But he failed to complete his sacrifice in time; a band of raiders, led by Apellon Redpath, expertly hunted him down in less than half the time it took for the spell to complete. Lampen was forced to cancel the spell--he still died, but without completing the spell he still had a chance to be resurrected later. When another cleric had to bring him back, he felt only half returned, distraught that he had failed so immensely.   While the existence of wacu, the chaotic side-effects of mass resurrection, usually casts doubts on Lampen's profession, Lampen himself is fond of wacu and speaks to them whenever he can. He shares their curiosity and love of the world, and he relates to the frequent survivor guilt of the few wacu who escape a turbulent resurrection. He's acutely, perhaps excessively, aware of how many people fail for every person who succeeds in Agrophon. He can't linger on his own accomplishments without imagining himself standing on a mountain of less fortunate bodies.
