Agora

The material plane that acts as the centrepiece and anchor for the Universe. All the realms are tied to Agora in some manner, though most are unaware of this cosmic reliance, and those that do have yet to understand why.   According to researchers of dawn history. The ocean was the first thing to exist on Agora. Ancient draconic text implies that, at first, there was only a "bowl" which held the waters of the world. Land supposedly only came to be when the dragons and entities referred to as "the watching" learnt to reshape the bowl; to carve, bend, and stretch its form and mould the realm into whatever image they wished. This began the first debates of Agora, which resulted in the banishment of the watching and left dragons as the sole rulers of the realm.

Geography

The land of Agora is one of numerous climates and various biomes. The north-northwestern edge, also known as the Balanroost is the hottest region of the realm; the futher you are from the colder the climate around you becomes.   The majority of the plane's surface is taken up by landmasses, namely the five continents which are seperated by the oceans of water that fill the empty space. These landmasses were supposedly forged, or borken by the entities that presided over Agora during the Dawn of Thought. There are vast mountains, rolling hills, deep trenches, and labyrinthian caverns. Smaller landmasses are believed to be forged in the same way, broken piece of continents that drifted apart from the point of origin. Islands and archipelagos are few and far between.   Due to the realm's past bonds with the other planar realms, certain regions have transmuted according to enviroment and physics of the encroaching realms. The creatures of the realm are also affected by these intrustions, mutating in accordance with their new home. Rifts to the other realms have dwindled and even dispelled, but the land retains the scars of their influence. The continent of Zossar has become a monstrous amalgam of planar energies.

Ecosystem

The natural climate of the realm, and the supernatural influences out the outer realms, have terraformed Agora into a land of colourful terrain. Numerous meteorlogical events are cause by magical aftermaths rather natural cycles. Most creatures native to the Material Plane have adapted to shelter to migrate from the more volatile magic phenomena. Other have adapted to sustain themselves within or upon the mutated enviroment.

History

Agora history is rich with change. Cultures and have changed, died and been reborn, all with their own concepts of life, death, the matter betwixt what they all mean to one another and the mortals that are caught in it all.

Dawn of Thought

As far back as is known, Agora was claimed by the dragons. These powerful reptiles, the only entities capable of magic at the time, tore the land, sea, and skies to forge the appearance, nature, and laws of their domains to their whims. Upon their extinction at the hands of the Stoneborn, the mortal races of the land, built settlements and greeted one another openly in the wake of their freedom. The champions that were key to the slaying of dragons ascended upon their end, taking the role of dieties that would watch over their home.

Star Rise

This peace did not last however, as rifts to other realms tore into the fabric of the Material Plane. Entities from these planes crossed through. A meager number of them were just as scared and helplessly oppressed as the Stoneborn once were. A war across dimensions erupted, as the Stoneborn, along with these outerplanar allies, escorted refugees from the otherwordly forces, before sealing the cracks in their reality. These extraplanar creatures, dubbed the Starborn were taught of Agoran culture, and shared much of their ways. The horizons of Agora were broadened as it welcomed magic into its world.

Mortal Wars

Despite the initial success of this merger, tension grew as magical understanding advanced. Political powers argued over the logistics of numerous issues, many of which pertained to the Starborn's place in a plane that was not their own, and their authority on the worlds they hail from. These arguments devolved into warfare, when King Juorge Doxra XIX ravaged Kelldor, slaying and enslaving Starborn as he went, before moving to conquer the entirety of Agora.   This war ravaged the continents as they fought amongst themselves and each other. It became difficult to determine friend from foe, and every encounter risked carnage. However a divine event of catastrophic proportions, known as the Godfade, cut the Doxard empire of their divine magic. This severence from the gods also served as a wake-up call for all the Stoneborn. Isiria, the centremost continent and home to the most chaotic battles of the era, dropped their armaments and began signing treaties and truce; for and with the rest of the realm. The Doxard regime stubbornly refused to acknowledge the option of peace, until they were cornered to west of Kaiden and forced to surrender.

Comet Age

With the end of the Mortal Wars, new orders were established across the plane. The Agoran Church, near wiped from memory, lost their position as the most prominent religion; replaced by a new belief system known as the Isirian Pantheon. The world is no longer shaped by deitic lizards, planar conflict, or arcane warfare; but by philosophy. There are battles fought over conflicted ideals and blood is still shed in zealous devotion, but for the most part, there is peace. And all pray that it shall remain.
