Ahani

The term Ahani refers to the citizens of the realm of Ahana in general as well as to the ethnic group of the Ahani in particular, who founded the realm and gave it their name. While every citizen of Ahana may be called Ahani, no matter his race, ethnic Ahani exclusivly belong to the race of Kjai. Most ethnic Ahani would be offended if someone would compare them to other Kjai-ethnicities though, as they see themselves as unique and have bad relations to all other members of their species. They want nothing to do with the plans of the Grand Kingdom of Farid'zai and see the constant expansion of that realm as an existential threat. This is further fueled by the hatred of the Yigo, Kjai living in Farid'zai, who believe that Fiarid'zai should rule the world and see every Kjai working against this plan as a traitor. Every Ahani knows that his life would be terrible under the rule of Farid'zai, some believe that they would be killed at the spot. This further fuels their drive to stay independent and defend their realm at every cost.   Ahani are especially proud about their main export, high quality wines. The homeland of the Ahani has the perfect climate for growing wine which led to many Ahani entering the wine-business. Over time, Ahani vintners have mastered the art of getting the most out of the limited space of their homeland without sacrificing quality. This led to Ahani wines becoming synonymous with both quality and rarity. They are a highly sought after luxury good, often reserved for noble courts and rich merchants. Ahani wines even serve as diplomatic instrument and are sometimes offered as a present during diplomatic missions.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Ahani culture is strongly coined by their agricultural activity and their closeness to the sea. While all Kjai are good swimmers and fond of the sea, agriculture is almost non-existent in other Kjai-ethnicities, making the Ahani unique in this aspect.

Common Myths and Legends

The Ahani believe, that Ahan, a mythical explorer belonging to the race of the Olidäe first came to the valley of Erophir and was struck by the beauty and fertility of this place. He later became the prophet of the Ahani, who worship him as the one who brought them to their home and serves as defender of their realm ever since.
