Mind Bleaching

White.
The Color of order. The color of chaos.
It is considered the most dangerous of the Colors, mostly thanks to its unpredictable nature.
But it also has another characteristic trait that scares most people. It is its ability to affect one's body long before they reach the point where they contract Oversaturation (condition). It is very hard to control the levels of the White, both its positive and negative side in one's body. While other Colors stay in their nests, White has a tendency to spill out and spread to the places it should never be in (the brain).   Mind Bleaching is the result of the positive aspect of White reaching to the brain.

Causes

Mind Bleaching can be caused by something as simple as walking through the area where the levels of White Color dominate. If one doesn't check their body regularly, the chance of contracting the condition raises greatly. What's interesting, even though locations with increased White levels in them can cause it, the areas so filled with White they begin to warp from Oversaturation (geographic anomaly) (even its positive aspect) are completely safe from causing this condition (but not safe from causing oversaturation).

Symptoms

First symptoms

During the first weeks of the sickness, when the White levels are still low, the affected starts to develop germophobia, and obsession with cleanliness and white color. They usually start to burn everything they own that they find unclean, and cover any wall they can with white. If caught early, taking them to someone who can balance the Colors inside their bodies can heal them completely without any later side effects.

Secondary symptoms

The germophobia worsens. The affected start to think both the inside and the outside of their body is unclean.
Often, they will start to scrub it until they self-harm or will try to consume various cleaning products, in most cases leading to death.
Another symptom that shows up at this stage is their hatred to anyone they deem unclean (those unaffected by the sickness).

Final symptoms

If one survives long enough with this sickness, and their White levels continue to rise, that's when the body starts to warp (caused by oversaturation).

Sequela

Besides all of the wounds the sick caused to themselves and possible complications related to them, a lot of those who have been cured start to suffer from compulsive hoarding and stop cleaning in their houses altogether. This can lead to many other diseases related to living in an unhygienic environment.

Treatment

Before the final symptoms start to show up, one can be healed by long therapy that balances the Colors and returns them to their nests.

Cults of White

Those suffering from this condition have an unexplained ability to recognize others affected by it and are attracted to each other as fellow "ones who see the world as the filthy mess it is".
They will often form congregations, sheltering other "clean ones" and punishing those who they deem unclean by cleansing them (with fire, chemicals, etc.).
They see the locations where they have contracted the sickness as holy places, visiting them often, which speeds up the development of the symptoms they suffer from.
They also consider those warped by the White as supreme, clean beings, sent by the higher powers to cleanse the world from the filth.

Public baths

To prevent the sickness, and with it the cults, from showing up, a new incentive has been pushed. Many public baths all around the world introduce new treatments focusing on draining and regulating the flow of Colors inside the body.
Some even go as far as adding reagents that balance their flow to the bathwater to protect people from contracting it.

It might become a nice metaphor for toxic perfectionism... but who knows?   What if a cult of white came across a powerful source of whit energy so they could try to zap people's brains to 'cleanse' them? would it work? would they just kill their patients?

Yeah, I wanted it to be based on the germophobia and, like you guessed, perfectionism.   And a nice idea, didn't think about it during writing the article, but yes, there could be cults smart enough to find a way (after a lot of failed attempts) to increase their numbers by cleansing entire communities.   Thank you very much for all of your comments. :D
