Lena and Tanya, the Doubled Witch

Thanks to her ability to control two Colors at the same time, Yellow and Green, she had access to more advanced classes. And so, as soon as her introductory lessons ended, she could sign up for the "Color Synergy for Beginners". But as she looked at the name of the teacher who would conduct those classes, she noticed two different names written down there. Well, maybe the course was divided into different parts. She would have to wait until the next day to discover that.
As she sat down in the lecture hall, Mia was overfilled with excitement. She talked a little with her new acquaintances from other classes. The conversation was interrupted when the teacher entered the class. She looked young, she was in her early 20s. Her incredibly red hair was tied up in a ponytail. She wore a striped red and white dress. And while she was far away, Mia could swear that both of her eyes were of different color. If not for the stack of the papers she came with, the fact that she stood in front of the blackboard, and a complete surety she felt that the teacher was a Witch, Mia would probably thought she was just another student. But it didn't seem that all of the students got that memo, as at the moment the teacher started clearing her throat to silence them, some of them were still talking. She cleared her throat again. And again. And at that exact moment, something unusual happened, as it seemed that someone moved from behind the teacher. The new person was also a woman who looked almost identical to the teacher, but her hair was braided and her clothes had black stripes instead of white. In the second Mia focused on the new person, the teacher disappeared behind her.
Within a blink of an eye, the students who were still talking yelped in pain as the pieces of chalk hit their heads. The woman who appeared from behind the teacher put her hands on her hips.
"Will you kindly shut up now? Every single year, there has to be someone who ignores my sister," she waited for a moment for the groans of pain to subside. "Now you all are ready? Good. My name is Tanya and you've already seen my sister, Lena. We will be your teachers of Color Synergy, or, as it is often colloquially called, Color Mixology. Here are the materials you will need for today's lesson..."

There are many theories on how Doubled Witch came to be. Some think the sisters tried to experiment with a spell that would switch their places, that they both tried to teleport into the same spot, or that one of them decided to use a spell that would let her hide in her sister's shadow when their transformation into Witches began. Whatever the reason, the magic joined them together, and since they are very close to each other, they never looked for a way to undo that, if there ever was one.
While both of them always exist at the same time, only one of them can be completely visible and material. Whenever one of them wants to switch with the one present, she moves from behind her sister, while the other one steps back. Anything the one that disappears holds stays with her until she reappears or she passes it by manifesting her hands or giving it to her sister. This is also an ability the two of them possess, where each one of them can only manifest parts of their bodies for a short while.

Age and Appearance

While often considered twins, Lena and Tanya are of different ages, Lena is older by two years. She is also shorter than her sister by about 8 cm.
Both of the sisters heavily rely on the Red Color when casting spells and their appearance and clothes reflect that. They have intense red hair and each one has a red eye (Lena's right one and Tanya's left one) with a white iris that takes on the shape of a hash sign. Their other eyes are green for Lena and dark blue for Tanya, with normal, round black irises. Tanya tends to make elaborate braids out of her hair and Lena prefers a simple ponytail.
Whenever they have to show themselves officially as Witches, they often wear two-colored red striped short dresses with crinoline skirts. The second color tends to be white for Lena and black for Tanya. When dressing casually, the girls tend to switch between many colors and styles, the older sister opting for something trendy and the younger picking things more comfortable to wear.

Personalities

While sharing some similarities, especially when it comes to their appearance, Lena and Tanya are quite different when it comes to their personalities, interests, and tastes. Lena tends to be more shy, and even though she is more knowledgeable than her sister and has better memory, she also tends to doubt herself way more. She doesn't like exerting herself too much, preferring a more comfortable life. Despite that, she likes contact with other people, though she tends to be a little naive and idealistic.
Compared to her, Tanya is more abrasive, open, and painfully honest with others. Despite that, she is the one who prefers to stay away from the people, leaving most of the conversations to her sister but butting in with some snide remarks every so often. She tends to be confident enough that even if she is wrong, others often start to doubt themselves first. She is also more active physically than her sister. While Lena depends more on her spells, both during the combat and during their daily lives, Tanya attends fencing lessons and integrates sword fighting mixed with spells into her fighting style.
Lena and Tanya love to gather new knowledge and teach it to others. Whenever someone listens to them, Lena forgets about being nervous all the time and Tanya softens her act. It just makes the two of them happy, especially once the two of them get excited and start bouncing off of what the other one says. Even today, when their lives are more static, with them being teachers, they will often hire people to find new pieces of literature or manuals on something they haven't learned yet.
Both of the sisters dream about romance but they would like it expressed in different ways. Lena wants love that is more private - letters, holding hands when no one's watching, kisses just out of everyone's sight, words of affection whispered so no one else will hear them, gifts found in unexpected places. Meanwhile, Tanya wants to be swept off her feet, someone who won't be too nervous to ask her out, no matter how many people are watching, someone who will be the first person to invite her for a dance when everyone is still too afraid to go to the dance floor. As one can guess from the way they look at romance, the two of them don't have too much experience with it in real life, instead, opting out for books that describe it. But, to be fair, it isn't that easy to find someone who'll be able to deal with the second sister always present no matter what they do, even harder to imagine two people ready for something like that.

Their past

Not much is known about the place the sisters come from or how old exactly are they. Since they became Witches, their process of aging slowed down drastically. But what is known is that the oldest mention of them in the texts was written just before the Age of War ended and they already were Witches back then. They also always accompanied the current headmistress of the School of Theoretical and Practical Application of Colors, being a part of her Witch Coven. There are also mentions of the third Witch in said coven, as Lena and Tanya were always counted as one, but said Witch and their name remain a mystery. Together, the three of them traveled across the continent, searching for a place to stay, while gathering all the knowledge about the world they could. They visited all the greatest libraries, to much displeasure of the other Witches who owned them and weren't informed beforehand of their arrival.
Having journeyed enough, and after hearing about the School of Colors, their leader decided that was where they would move next. There, the three of them easily found jobs at school grounds, with Lena and Tanya becoming teachers of Synergy of Colors, teaching students how to mix two or more Colors to create new spells. And here is where they have been working for the last half of the century, with their leader rising in the ranks and taking over the position of the Headmistress of the school once the last one decided to resign because of her old age.

Using magic

Despite differences between them, both of the sisters tend to pick Red as their base Color when casting spells. Perfect for both protective and offensive spells, they rarely mix it up with other Colors to create more unusual effects. In most cases, Lena will add primarily White to make her spells way more chaotic and unpredictable or to change their shapes between random and patterned. Outside of combat, she is the one that prefers to use other-Colored spells for utility so she doesn't have to do as much, something her sister disapproves quite a lot.
On the other side, Tanya uses her magic almost exclusively during combat. She adds Black to both her spells and her weapons, increasing their power dramatically, making her spells quite literally explode while her slashes and thrusts become capable of cutting through rocks and armor like a warm knife through butter.

Failures and embarrassments

Social interactions aren't the strongest suit of the two sisters and so there are many stories of them doing something embarrassing or silly.
When counting any interactions they had with the people they had crushes on, the list grows exponentially. Despite a few times when the other sister scared away the potential lover who didn't know about their "condition" by suddenly appearing or by adding a comment that simply killed a mood, the two of them don't need the help of the other sister to fumble the bag in a hundred and one ways.
What is interesting is that when the two of them switch into "teaching mode", all of those problems simply disappear. Suddenly, they can focus completely on the task in front of them, interact with others, and answer all of the questions of the students, even the ones that are simply bait to make them slip again.

Profession

The sisters work as teachers of Synergy of Colors at School of Theoretical and Practical Application of Colors, though their main task is to observe any students capable of controlling three or four Colors and gathering the information on current perception of Witches. Should someone try to spread negative information that presents the Witches in a bad light, the sisters secretly inform those responsible for dealing with the misinformation. But in their daily life, their students would never suspect anything like that from the two of them, many of them treating the two more like friends than someone older and way more experienced by them. This works out well for the Witches, as that way, it is rarer for their students to hide something from them.

Juicy rumor

After the classes ended, Mia was asked to visit one of the offices to deal with some paperwork. On her way there, just as she passed the bridge on the river that divided the part of the school grounds where students mostly could be found from the one where staff's and teachers' homes and offices were, she noticed two of the teachers walking together, right next to each other. They were the new teacher of History of Colors, Professor Ellis, and one of the Doubled Witches, Lena. It looked like she was constantly stealing glances at him. At some point, she moved her hand closer to his, trying to reach for it without him noticing. But that was when he stopped, and so she turned towards him, giggling, pretending she didn't do anything weird. Was her face almost as red as her hair? Oh my, she leans so much towards him she is about to fall. And look at all that swaying and fidgeting she does. And, and...
And that was exactly when Tanya stepped out from behind her sister, taking her place. Compared to her sister, she wasn't so happy. She even started scolding him to the point he lowered his head and put his hand on his neck. The show was over. If Mia was caught observing that, Miss Tanya would most certainly have punished her in some way. And so she continued her journey towards the offices, greeting the teachers as she passed them by. Miss Tanya stopped shouting at Ellis for "being a lazy bum who tries to push his responsibilities on her sweet sister" for long enough to smile at Mia and greet her with her usual, energetic tone, only to continue her tirade, as she moved far enough from them.
It was a little disappointing ending, but what Mia saw today would serve as quite juicy news for her friends.
