The Free Faith

The people of the Free Kingdoms, known as the Swordfolk, have followed one religion for many years. Until their encounters with other religions within their own population, their faith went mostly nameless, known simply as 'The Faith'. Now, to distinguish it from other religious groups it is known as the Free Faith. 
The Free Faith has no gods, in fact being a form of ancestor worship where their prayers are directed at the collective dead of their faith known as the Departed who reside in their afterlife known as the Beyond. They believe that the dead offer guidance from the afterlife, rather than intervening directly.
The faithful believe that the mortal body is simply a shell for the soul, and that a new life awaits in the Beyond. When someone dies, their body is nothing more than a shell of corrupted flesh and should be burned.
