Red Hand Plague

The Red Hand is a curse, or plague, which targets humans of the Swordfolk ethnicity. The plague spreads by unknown means and is magical in nature, being uncurable by any means available to healers and priests, both of whom only seem capable of delaying the symptoms. The most obvious symptom and the source of the name of the plague is a red rash that appears upon the throat, resembling a hand. Other symptoms include a fever, fatigue, struggle to breath, and general physical weakness. These symptoms together ultimately lead to an almost absolute death rate among those who contract the Red Hand, with survivors only being those who can receive regular treatment to delay the inevitable.
The curse appears to have ties to the Darian Creed goddess Krimeris, also known as Kymris, as the curse seems to have been sealed within a temple devoted to her. Said temple had an inscription upon the doorway which read "The sacrifice of five is Seal and Sealed. Five blades for five hands, for five champions of five tribes, for the five fingers of the Gauntlet, our saviour from the bloodgrip. Their sacrifice shall be remembered, though they will not. Trespassers beware the sacred Guard."
