Badakara

Badakara is a branch of the Hindu religion that became prevalent in SSS Corp territories shortly after it's migration from Earth.

Mythology & Lore

Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, a war god who was also the elder brother of Lord Ganesh.
The vehicle Kartikeya rides is a peacock called Paravani. . This peacock was originally a demon called Surapadma, after provoking Kartikeya in combat, the demon repented at the moment his lance descended upon him. He took the form of a tree and began to pray. The tree was cut in two. From one half, Murugan pulled a rooster, which he made his emblem, and from the other, a peacock, which he made his mount.
Kartikeya, the god of war and general of the army of the gods, is known for his extraordinary strength and skills. It is said that he was perfection personified, extremely brave, intelligent and highly skillful in the art of war. He is considered as the commander in chief of devas as he was mainly created to destroy demons that symbolize negative human tendencies.
While most hindu Gods turned their backs on humanity in their time of need, many Badakari believe Kartikeya guided Yad Badakar to lead the people of SSS Corp into space.

Divine Origins

The religion of Badakara originated from the people of the SSS Corp who saw Yad Badakar and James Grey as their saviors. James Grey was mostly agnostic, so Yad Badakar being a devout Hindu that saw Karitkeya as his guiding force, many started seeing him as a prophet. Yad didn't start a religion, it formed around him.
The Badakara religion did initially start as most of it's citizens simply being Hindu, but as time went on mythology and legends evolved to become more focused on a singular God, Kartikeya, and his profit Yad.

Cosmological Views

Most icons show Kartikeya with one head, but some show him with six heads reflecting the legend surrounding his birth where six mothers symbolizing the six stars of Pleiades cluster who took care of newly born baby Kartikeya

Tenets of Faith

1. Obtain physical perfection through exercise, clean eating, and abstaining from impure substances (alcohol, drugs).
2. Lead a just and good life.
4. Help your brother.
5. Never start battle, only finish it.

Priesthood

Pujari are the average priest of the Badakara relgion, they are selected by the denizens of their church with a vote held every 8 years. A High Pujari is selected by a vote held by all the Pujari. The High Pujari is the face of the religion and often tries to influence politics.
The current High Pujari is Vineet Johnson.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Badakari haven't much influence in the past but current political leader Lieutenant General Amar Kamal is a devout follower.
