Trilada

"Solar magic can be extremely dangerous if you aren't careful my love, we have seen what can happen.. Let me tell you a story of a beautiful forest town, and the day it almost burned to the ground"
— A Lakaian mother to her magic-curious child

In a beautiful pine forest...

.. lies the small town Trilada beneath the cover of deep green treetops. A paradise for many, that is for sure. But as the rest of Lakai, the use of magic was looked down upon, and it was made clear only to use it in life or death situations, and never for your own pleasure. Magics are not here to play around with, it is the tool of gods and we are but mere mortals.   But one late night, a curious young boy much like yourself went into the forest to play. He had heard of using energy from the sun could make wonderful light shows and he wanted to try! Innocent and unknowing he began channelling the solar energies but because of his lack of knowledge, he couldn't control it. The wild and strong energy from the sun, one of our gods, were too much for the boy and the energy spurted out of his body and into the beautiful forest. Trees and vegetation were set on fire, and wild solar magic, as taunting and fierce as it can be, began ravaging and eating the nearby forest and vegetation.   The boy was knocked out and lay unconscious on the ground oblivious to the foolish act he had just performed. The fierce magic of the sun god Êdgar is uncontrollable and shouldn't be in the hands of mere mortals, and especially not a little boy. And Êdgar gave the boy and the town the ultimate lesson for his innocent curiosity.   Trilada was in flames for several hours, and only with the help of the rain and water Gods, the fire was suffocated. When morning light finally hit the town again, the damage became visible to the citizens. A few people had perished in the fires, but almost everyone had gotten out of their homes unscathed.
"...And that is why I tell you not to play with the powers of a god. They are not meant for us to wield, and the gods keep telling us that."
— Lakaian mother to her child.

The rebuilding

Though it sounds like a story to frighten your kids and make their curiosity for magic die down, it is not only that. The town of Trilada was rebuild, and though it isn't as it was before, the inhabitants have tried to move on from this terrible incident.   Buildings were rebuilt but that wasn't the hard part - the spirit in town was shaken and broken. It took many months, for some years, before the townsfolk got joy back in their lives. One building remains from the incident, the tower of the old castle in town. Scorched and burned, it stands as a reminder for every citizen of what exactly happens if you play with godly powers.
