Spirit negotiator Rank/Title in Aewyn | World Anvil

Spirit negotiator

I know it's best to be on the spirits good side, but sometimes I just wanna wack them all for doing these stupid pranks on us!
— A farmer in Quanlin
Sprits, both good and bad, roams every land on Aewyn. There aren't too many of them, and their existence isn't normally a problem - some of them are even praised as helpers and spiritual guides in parts of Aewyn.   But then we have Quanlin - the spirit-lands - the place where the highest population of spirits is found. Though many of them are harmless some have other intentions in mind. When people first migrated to Quanlin and made settlements, the spirits just left them be, not really taking notice to them. The settlements became cities to the now known Quanes that still inhabit the lands.
Not long after the settlements came to be, spirits found interest in annoying the new inhabitants.   Small pranks and harmless jokes kept happening, and the Quanes found them quite hilarious until the more evil-minded spirits began joining the fun.
The best pranks - if you ask the spirits - That time when all the water froze to ice, or maybe the time when the wind only blew upwards making things blow away.. Aaah those were pretty good.
What started with harmless jokes and fun times, ended up in flames and ravage in many cities. Fear spread in cities because of the deteriorating relationship between them and the spirits, and they knew something had to be done. A group of young openminded Quanes - ones that had said to actually see and communicate with spirits before - were set out to negotiate peace with the spirits: Spirit Negotiators.
You cannot reason with madness! They will always be seeking ways to tease us
— An old Quane.
To some, this may seem funny and like a waste of time, but for the group of young Quanes this task was seen as an honour and they took it very seriously.
The first approach wasn't too successful as the spirits grew suspicious of their intentions. The second approach went a lot better, and they came in contact with some of the spirits. They negotiated for 3 days straight, and at the end came to a conclusion that all sides could agree upon.

These are the conditions they came to agree upon:

  • Harmless pranks and fun is all right as long as no one gets hurt in the process
  • Don't destroy our cities and our crops
  • The misty forest is spirit territory and if Quanes wander in there they know the potential consequences
  • The last day in every month is the Spirit Day where spirits are allowed to a lot more shenanigans around the cities, and where spirits and Quanes all have fun in the streets with food and music.
