Karlo Jelök

This is a short story about how Karlo Jelök completely changed Lakaians view on magic and the gods.
— The first sentence in A Lakai History book
Karlo was the first to suggest how the natural disasters Lakaian lands were experiencing was because of how the people carelessly used Godly magic in their everyday life.
His belief was that the Gods had shown Lakaians their magic to test them, and now there were displeased about how they used this knowledge to their own selfish wishes.   This is how Aagaido Religion started, which is a branch of the formerly most practised religion in Lakai called Alesy.

He wrote some simple guidelines for people to follow when using magic, to make sure they all pleased the Gods. Karlo was the main factor for Mist-magic, the most common magic found in Lakai, to almost disappear for centuries.   This is until the movement of New beginnings began taking place, and the young generation in the 4600s voiced their opinions about what we should be allowed to do with magic. This is a group amongst Lakaians called Kaines.   A more in-depth history of Karlos accomplishments

History of Karlo Aagaido

In the late 4300s, times were extremely hard for people in Lakai. Fear and sadness had taken their toll on the inhabitants' minds and hearts. At this point in time, Lakaians had been through what they all described as the most horrible 10 years in Lakaian history, and the people were losing hope.   Natural disasters happened 3-5 times a year, and every time it became harder for people to recover from the devastating events and rebuild their lives. Natural disasters weren't unheard of in these lands, but nobody seemed to understand why the seemingly unprovoked drastic change had suddenly happened. Lakaians tried keeping their heads high, and look for solutions to the arising problems, and though magic is often a wonderful tool to solve problems with, it didn't seem to help in this situation. Some even began arguing that magic only made the situation worse.   In the Lakaian lands, Alesy is the most practised religion amongst people. A religion with multiple gods, where most of these are either nature related, elements or celestial objects. Alesy describes how Lakaians learned magic from the Gods and that they were the ones to show them how to utilize it, and they praise the Gods for their generous gift.   This is where Karlo comes into the picture in the year 4394 (he is at this point 27 years of age), for he had a different take on the Gods and their intentions. Normally this would seem a bit controversial, but given the current circumstances, his beliefs got a lot more traction than what was expected. Karlo believes that the Gods showed Lakaians their magic and how to use it as a test to see Lakaians true colours. He blamed the horrible events on the people and their careless use of the Gods' magic, and this was the Gods' way of punishing the Lakaians.   Karlo proposed for the people to follow some simple guidelines to please the Gods and this became a new branch of the Alesy religion named Aagaido. He began preaching in his own church about this, and his beliefs quickly became popular as people were grasping for hope.   Coincidently (or well, not coincidently if you ask the believers) the natural disaster began to dull down, and as more and more attended church and practised the new branch of Alesy, Aagaido, fewer catastrophes were registered across Lakai. People were finally able to take a breath of relief as they saw their country and people slowly regaining hope.   Karlo was praised throughout the country, and his beliefs were widely spread in all churches.
Even though many were having doubts about decreasing their use of magic, they later changed their minds after seeing the "effects" it presumably had. Every Lakaian were extremely grateful and relieved that Karlo could help them all.   Normal and mundane life was now what every Lakaian family tried to practise, though some people had too much magic in their veins and couldn't resist it. It was common knowledge that some magic was still being practised, and though there weren't any rules against magic at all, everyone knew it was highly frowned upon. Practising too much magic was seen as putting every Lakaians life at stake.   Magic did continue to be used, but it was more seen as a last resort for hard situations.
