Crow's nest Building / Landmark in Aewyn | World Anvil

Crow's nest

On a lawless Island found in Chjicu Depths, people from all corners of Aewyn can be found. Most people on the run from laws or governments, some on the run from an earlier life they don't want anymore - either way, anyone is welcome here.   Well, even though it is said to be a lawless place, simple requirements and rules have to be followed for you to be allowed to stay. You know, simple rules to make sure that even a bunch of unlawful people can get along.

Leader and headquarters

The main building on the island is called the Crow's Nest, which is where the current leader of the island and community is located.
A big, extravagant, ornately decorated wooden building, right in the middle of town. With the dark wooden roof and the red terracotta walls, the building stands out from the other structures - and rightly so.   Everyone knows, to be a good and successful pirate, you need a great leader and a good plan. And this is where the Crow's Nest comes in - a fully operational headquarters for the largest pirate organization in Aewyn.   A famous pirate family was the founders of the city Seiwa Qu around 100 years ago. Until then, pirates operated more by themselves and didn't have a dedicated place just for them. This new settlement that was said to be ruled by a pirate attracted a lot of the crooked and unwanted people from countries nearby, and soon enough a rather big pirate community formed on the island.   Crow's Nest was the first building on the island, and this is where the Crow family have ruled from the beginning. Now, 5 generations later, Ivy Jane Crow is the Crow Leader on the island.

Pirate factions

Many different groups of pirates are located on the island as it is a safe haven, but as one might already have an inkling about, tensions can easily arise between the different factions and groups of pirates.   To make sure they all feel included in decisions, a council have been made, where each faction have a representative. And together they can influence the decisions of the Crow Leader - almost like a democracy, but way more sketchy and flawed.
