Scope
The motivation behind building Aevorea
Aevorea is a fantasy setting I am writing, mostly for fun.
The goal of the project
My main goal is to be able to write stories in this setting, but I might want to make or adapt an RPG system in the future.
Aevorea's Unique Selling point
Aevorea is a somewhat D&D-styled setting, but with more advanced technology (between the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution), where most technology revolves around
Veskaril, a wood that is magically propelled by heat.
Theme
Genre
The setting is fantasy, with somewhat more advanced technology than usual, but not modern.
Reader Experience
The world should feel fantastical, but also make some amount of sense.
Reader Tone
The tone of Aevorea is similar to most fantasy (i.e. somewhere in the middle), but with the capacity to become very bright and also very dark at times.
Recurring Themes
- Veskaril-powered machines.
- Somewhat historically accurate arms and armor, with most inaccuracies explained in a way that makes sense.
- A mixture of historical and fantasy aesthetics.
Character Agency
Medium to high, depending on the characters.
Drama
The
Templars dealing with demon incursions and a surge in
Talon distribution.
The demons in
Irkalla fearing
The Harrowing, and perhaps it coming to pass.
The tension caused by the recent conquest of most of Aevorea by the
Erelicia Imperium, and the
Erelicia Imperium's conflict with the
Great Forest Druids.
The unsurety regarding The Moon, which is actually a giant egg, and what might happen when it hatches.
The conflict between the
Dragons and the
Linnorms.
The recent increase in sea monster attacks.
