Hrothag

Hrothag (a.k.a. The White Wolf, The Packlord)

Hrothag was a druid who started to see humanity and civilization as the enemy of nature. He wandered into the wastes of The Nevermelt hoping to test himself, and find some kind of peace and clarity in the vast emptiness of the world's most extreme natural climate. While wandering the wilds of Blakkgaarde, he encountered the Last Monastery, Far Abbey, where he studied for a time, hoping to find answers. Unbeknownst to the monks, Hrothag had recently been cursed with an extremely rare form of lycanthropy that transformed him into a werewolf with the additional powers of a winter wolf.   Hrothag was driven mad by his lycanthropy, and while dwelling at the monastery, he devised a plan to plunge the world into a frozen night. He wanted to cull all life on the Gyrlands down to only the strongest of the pack. The first part of his plan was to infect everyone the world over with "The Frigid Woe " formula. Once the pandemic had spread, only those with enough fortitude to withstand it's ravages would be left. He left the details of this plan in Hrothag's Diary, which he left hidden under some rubble in his old chambers.   Hrothag was given The Frigid Woe by the Queen of Air and Darkness, also known as Maeb, ruler of the Unseelie. Hrothag was more than happy to spread the disease for her, and began to worship her as a deity. Thus, the circle that had created the monster known as Hrothag was now complete.   Hrothag was testing the disease on a young monk he had kidnapped from Far Abbey named Meyani Telossi. She was fortunately cured before succumbing to the disease.   Eventually Hrothag was slain and Meyani was rescued by a group of adventurers from the south. The heroes retrieved enough antidote from Hrothag's stash that they were able to cure the disease to all who had contracted it, and thus halted its spread, saving the world from a deadly contagion.
