Garfalk
In the Age of Rebuilding, amidst the echoes of the Sundering’s chaos, rare and enigmatic beings known as Garfalk have emerged. These Aetherplants, so deeply infused with the arcane residues of the Sundering that they achieved sentience, are extraordinarily scarce and almost mythical to most. Immobile yet profoundly connected to their surroundings, Garfalk remain anchored to the earth, relying on an intricate root network to communicate with nearby plant life. Through this connection, they gather and share information across large swathes of forest, forming a unique collective awareness that allows them to "sense" disturbances and relay messages across their plant kin, creating an almost hive-like knowledge among flora in their region.
Due to their rarity, only a handful of druids and scholars, primarily from the nature-bound Kingdom of Eldenmere, have had the privilege of interacting with Garfalk directly. Eldenmere’s druids view Garfalk as ancient, passive sentinels of nature, possibly even echoes of the Treants from the Age of the Ancients. Revered as wise and silent watchers, Garfalk are sought after for their unique insight into the movements of Aetherspawn and shifts in the natural balance. Legends tell of certain Garfalk clusters that may extend their awareness over vast distances, making them priceless allies to those who guard Aethria’s natural world from the lingering consequences of the Sundering.
