Great Vasharan Desert - The Heart of Aetha'sur

Great Vasharan Desert

Making the great proportion of the eastern centre of Aetha'Shar, and is divided by the central savannah-lands around the Rivers Ississa and Bijeauine, that splits into a river delta at its centre. Home to the region of the Pridelands. Ancestral home of the Tabaxi, once ruled over by the Sphinxes and the Lamia's respectively, contesting for dominance over the waters of Ississa and Bijeauine. Until the great fall and division of the Lamia's, under the Great Glassing of Eastern Vashara during the Cataclysm, they were once a prominently lush and influential kingdom - their lands now swallowed by the sands in the east, though their ruins remain, and their fallen nobility scramble in nomadic bands holding sway over their ancestral homes. The Sphinxes held their dominion and watch from the great northern and western Androgen Mountains, and their dedicated temples to Pansophia across the Eastern Vasharan Desert. Protecting and watching over the great artefacts of the gods, keeping time and maintaining order.

GEOGRAPHY

The Great Vasharan Desert dominated the eastern regions of Aetha'Shar. Clockwise from the central north to north-west, the desert was also bordered by the Chalcen Bay and the Ventura Sea. Clockwise from south-east to the central south, the desert was also bordered by the Bolotani Bay and the Cimerus Sea. On the central-western marches of the desert, bordering the Pridelands, is the Barbed Hamada. The Barbed Hamada is filled with the blackened-red rocky plateaus and salt-rock regions, with dried savannah spoiled by an infestation of great tower cacti & barbed vines and resounding termite mounds. It has been an arid region for centuries, and had felt the corruption of the demonic-worshippers and Lamia's - once a fertile region with riverbeds, that now are filled with dried-river omurambas.  The Carrion Dunes. The sandy dunes are filled with tall linear-lined dunes in the erg of the south regions, granting a home to lizards, insects, and wandering beasts - the rocky sand-dunes are also held in terror by the harpies, giant vultures and Blood Hawks. In the western regions of the Vasharan Desert are secured and known as many and distant Vasts. The Howl Vast. The erg dune-sea often changes to the whims of the chaotic sandstorms and howling winds, and ruins and obelisks that are partially buried across the sands. Believed to be haunted by many beasts and undead ghosts, and the terrifying machinations within the ruins of those that worshipped Graz'zt the Dark Prince; devastated and ruined by numerous raids and grave-robbers across the region. The Vast of Leia-Thril. A region of sand-blasted badlands, dominated by rolling ergs and rippling dunes, the remnants of the ruinous kingdoms of the Lamia's, breaking forth from the sands are the old and partially demolished monuments and towers. Most of the kingdom has been buried beneath the sands, having once been the lush regions of Vashara. Now it is home to desert nomads and the deadly Sandshark Worms. In the northern regions, is the Vast of Andryza, the territory was once the ancient home of the great Androsphinxes. The Vast is a region of scaling rocky mesas, weathered down and smoothened into a rocky plateau with small dunes and thin signs of vegetation. The Sunstrike Crater. A deep crevice within the desert, filled with petrified glass that catches the great rays of the sun in a refracted mirage of swimming chromatic colours. The Light Tower of Sol-Prime. An isolated region home to a dedicated order of wizards that wish to preserve the ancient texts of Vashara, keeping copies within a great library brought back from the ruins of ages past - turning into a self-sufficient community by the northern coastline, and a most devoted spot to Pelor, and destination set for pilgrims and sailors alike. In the centre of the main desert, are the wounds of the Cataclysm where the gods battled against the mad god Tharizdun. The Great Sunspear Crater. The largest and most noteworthy of the kaleidoscopic crystal blast zone, testaments of the battles between the gods, especially the power of Pelor against the great demon Tharizdun - a region known for its strange yet entrancing mirages and illusions, the lights that dance across the surface of the crater, but also known for its deadly storms and sandy cyclones that pick up the broken shards of glass and send it scattering across the glistening wastes. In the southern regions, is the Demon Hamada. In the Fulcrum Peninsula, is the Fulcrum Mountains. Surrounding these windswept mountains are: the Drakewind Valley. The Great Tusk Plains, in the eastern regions of the peninsula. To the southern regions of the peninsula, is the Hoarion Savannah.
