Arthur Filagree
(a.k.a. Art Filagree)
Arthur at a young age was always fascinated with birds and their ability to fly. He was a bird watcher and a naturalist. When the world shattered it changed his whole world as the nature he loved to be in was forever changed. Isolated on the broken islands floating in the air he was cut off the nature he so loved. Arthur was among some of the first aethersmiths among the Dwarves and started experimenting with the exposed aetherite that was found in the tumultuous time when magic failed to function as it has been known the time.
Dwarves had always been about going their own way when it came to magical studies and they found a way to create a field that shielded a subject from aetheric forces and even push an opposite element. Arthur took this as a challenge to see if he could create a floating device that would allow him to fly like the birds he watched as a child. At first the device was crude but it worked if not haphazardly. Over the years he and his team refined the the aether engine to increase the field size and allow it to carry a full vessel. They fit the engine to a moored galleon and managed to get it to fly and achieved the first trans aether flight from the dwarfhome to the City of Janus to much rejoice.
In his later years Arthur retired to a small vessel and traveled the elemental quintessence in search of avians and cataloging all the new creatures of flight that came from the elemental plane of air. His family runs the aetherworks he founded and continued to build the aether flier building empire.
