Aetherra is a dark fantasy world where the gods are dead or silent, magic is feared, and civilization survives behind walls, faith, steel, and secrets. Most campaigns begin on the continent of Etharis, a land of haunted empires, cursed kingdoms, zealous faiths, monstrous bloodlines, and ruined cities. Among its greatest wounds is Drakkenheim, once a proud free city-state in the Grey Spine Mountains, now a contaminated ruin filled with monsters, delerium, rival factions, and unanswered questions.

Brixi Fizzlebang

Brixi Fizzlebang is a freckled gnome cleric with pink-red hair, bright curious eyes, green adventuring gear, brass goggles, and strawberry earrings that hint at the gentle healer she always wanted to be instead of the alchemical prodigy her family expected. Beneath her cheerful, oddball appearance is a deep grief: an explosion tied to a whispering amulet destroyed her home, took her family, and left her with strange scars, lost time, and powers she does not fully understand. She now wanders Etharis trying to use that haunted magic for good, healing others while fearing that the voice in the amulet may one day reveal what really happened to her.

Nimble Nox

Nimble Nox is a quick-footed gnome bard with a gambler’s grin, restless hands, and the nervous energy of someone always calculating odds he knows are stacked against him. He channels his magic through dance rather than song, turning spins, taps, flourishes, and sudden movements into flashes of inspiration, misdirection, and defiant charm. Beneath the wit and showmanship is desperation: Nimble will take almost any job in Etharis if it means staying one payment ahead of the people who own his debts.

Iara

Iara is a luminous laneshi druid with pale, moonlit skin, deep black eyes, teal-blue hair, and delicate fin-like ears that make her seem half spirit, half creature of sacred water. Coral, shells, sea growth, and bioluminescent markings cling to her like natural adornments, giving her the look of someone shaped by tide pools, moonwells, and hidden groves beneath the waves. She carries a quiet, otherworldly sadness, as if she hears the pain of polluted waters and ancient spirits long before anyone else notices something is wrong.

Crow Bronwyn

Crow Bronwyn is a hardened, hollow-eyed sellsword with no memory of his past, carrying himself like a man who has been owned, pointed at targets, and used as a blade for too long. He looks more beast-worn than noble: rain-soaked leathers, scarred hands, a heavy weapon, and the haunted stare of someone who has survived monsters by becoming something close to one. Beneath the brutality is crushing guilt; Crow does not believe he is a hero, only a murderer trying to make sure no one else is used the way he was.
