Crimson Legion

A mercenary company lead and organized by hobgoblins, though they contain many species amongst their ranks; hobgoblins, goblins, bugbears, orcs, half-orcs, even some kobolds and lizard folk.

Structure

Cohorts:
The 1st Infantry Corps
The Farshot Brigade
The (Cavalry) Battalion of Urakha's lance, otherwise known as 'the lance'
The Hellfire Corps
The Magusellum College

Culture

The Legion is one of strength, fortitude, and honor. One is held in poor standing and shamed if they are found lacking in these, as they are the principles towards which the Legion strives, it is a foundation of who they are. Hobgoblins reign supreme in the Legion's hierarchy, with goblins riding close on their coattails. Bugbears are a close second, if for no other reason than their strength. They must be held to high standards as they are prone to getting carried away in the heat of combat due to their brutal training and raw natural abilities over others. Then there are all other races, from minotaurs to goliaths. They are not looked down upon per say, but they are considered outsiders by many in the Legion. At the absolute bottom of the barrel are the kobolds, which are seen almost as parasites snd servii than actual troops.

Public Agenda

To be the best damn army on the continent, if not the world.

Assets

Most of their fortresses lie within the Rao territories, for which they pay a hefty tax. With their abundance of wealth, however, as it is of no concern. They have enough funds to pay their taxes for centuries. Most of these fortresses are strong but old with long spanning histories. Some are new though, built as needed for their new expansion, thanks in part to Orcme Corp.

History

The Legion was found as a solemn vow of vengeance after the Blood Moon Masacre. But it was not against the human attackers, oh no, it was the orcs who had laughed in the face of Urakha's maniple. They could easily tell the position they were marching to was a trap, and they were ignored. Then, his comrades laid dead around him with him as the last survivor of the masacre. Over time he nurtured and pushed the Legion to the best they could be, and soon other hobgoblins followed in Urakha's legionary philosophy. It prove highly effective and as a result earned many victories with their blood and sweat.   Nearly three centuries later, the Crimson Legion makes a shocking decision and breaks their contract with the orc armies to instead be employed by the same humans who had committed the Blood Moon Massacre. It was a practical decision overall. The event that inspired their founding--the massacre--was their first reason to leave, but there were many others. The Legion did not like the way war was conducted with their former employers, as well as frequently finding themselves deployed, effectively, as front line fodder. The elves were too soft and the dwarves too proud for the Legion's liking. The humans, however, waged warfare in the proper fashion; organized, efficient, and sacrificing the bare minimum for maximum results.

Sects

The Legion allows any and all gods so long as they do not interfere with one's duties.

Historic Relations

The Crimson Legion is not uncommonly employed by the Imperium in times of war, and favors the Imperium, sometimes to the point of reserving any and all contracts for their choosing. This is not to say they only work for the Imperium, of course, but they are the Legion's most reliable employer in their long history.

Rivalry

The two groups have competed with one another in all things since their first contact, usually ending in violence and not uncommonly spilt blood.
