Damien woke during the Roman empire with amnesia, was adopted by the real Gaius Julius Cesar's family after his death and lived that life. He repeatedly tried to rule the Roman empire before giving up.  He resurfaced in the 1800s as Lord Stein Von Franks, trying to discover the secret of his immortality so he wouldn't be alone, and inspired the Mary Shelley story.
