Xelusa Prime and the Planet Xelusia

XELUSIA Prime and its only habitable planet.
The planet of Xelusia was a very originally a world of many biomes but by the start of the second Kingdom War they had stripped the planet of the majority of its resources. The ten Great Deserts were created when the Umbracruor Mages and e Umbrarex King opened the Gate of the Devourer to feed their entity on the life-glow and biomass of the lands that defied the Umbrarex and Cruorlena. The Amaxo mountains were one such region as was the plains directly to the southeast of Umbrahemos Templos. Thousands of years later the areas where the Devourer fed had barely begun to recover.
Except from Allies and Enemies "Xelusians?" Ezra questioned. "They are the ones who made the nebulae, they were Aetheria's sister kingdom before they destroyed themselves and Aetheria. If Adamos, the oracles and healers hadn't built the Tear of Heaven's Hope and fled..." Daisy trailed off, her eyes glazed over, and she shuddered. "All would have died."

The kingdom of Xelusia in the Dark Dust Dimension was a blackened star nebulae and a single world of dark dust was all that remained. Once Xelusia existed in a binary system with Aetheria. Two people from one parent race, split by a choice- Aetheria chose to follow the light, Xelusia chose the darkness.   It is unknown what happened next but the theory is a magical weapon misfired and the detonation trapped the Xelusia and its few survivors between the dimensions. The device to draw energy from their star and focus it to open a door for the dark consciousness that lived between the dimensions instead sucked the remnants of Xelusia's star, the charred husk of Xelusia Prime, into a sort of pocket dimension. It retained the exact size and shape as the void in the middle of the nova debris area that rotates around the center point of the once- binary star system with Aetheria. To the Xelusians, it was as if their sky was peeled away by fire as their convulsing, dying star partially shed its outer layer and collapsed into a dwarf. Only a few hundred survived, protected by the highest magical enchantments and layered enchanted obsidian rooms. Stripped of their physical bodies, the Xelusian survivors became the awarenesses, the dust ghosts. Their First Princess was one of those who spent the next 20,000 years in the presence of the Devourer in the dust nebulae. Their reality became the Dark Dust Dimension, a pocket dimension able to travel by unknown means between the dimensions to open gateways into the overworld. To feed itself and the dust ghost, the Dark Dust Dimension began harvesting world of biomass, stripping off the top most layers, much like pealing a piece of fruit, and only leaving enough biomatter the seed the planet for future harvest. The Nebulae would open over a world and basically vacuum up the surface layers, and burrow in the depth of stone and sea to consume what hid there. Once a world was stripped down to bedrock, it was left as a dead rock in space. A few thousand years ago (before modern times) the DDD changed the way it was harvesting planets. Dark Towers made of Dark Dust Ore, tech, and magic were used to create unnatural Ice and focus corrupted time energy to rapidly age the planet to death. These worlds often shattered, making harvesting easier but leaving no future resources requiring the Nebulae to travel further and further or return to worlds that is had harvest by the other method.
Except from Allies and Enemies   "She was in what was left of the Kingdom of Xelusia, a blackened star nebulae and a single charred world, with its god, the Devourer. It was the Hunger, Daisy had felt her first days here. Xelusia been pulled into the darkness with the Hunger. Now hungering to be free from its intra-dimensional prison, hungering to be fed on the life of the overworld. The kingdom of dark dust was always moving toward its next harvest. "   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Geography

The planet of Xelusia was a very originally a world of many biomes but by the start of the second Kingdom War they had stripped the planet of the majority of its resources. The ten Great Deserts were created when the Umbracruor Mages and the Umbrarex King opened the Gate of the Devourer to feed their entity on the life-glow and biomass of the lands that defied the Umbrarex and Cruorlena. The Amaxo mountains were one such region as was the plains directly to the southeast of Umbrahemos Templos. Thousands of years later the areas where the Devourer fed had barely begun to recover.   Many areas of Xelusia became semi arid biomes due to a phenomenon similar to global warm caused by pollution, failure to renew resources, and the presence of the Devourer. The rain ceased falling within half a thousand fields (killometers) of Umbrahemos Templos and the Gate of the Devourer.

Localized Phenomena

Because the entity known as the Devourer is imprisoned on a small pocket dimension that opens on Xelusia the Umbracruor Mages have learned how to set containment altars and have released the entity to feed on the life-glow and biomass of areas belonging to those who opposed the Umbrarex and Cruorlena. The result is a desert wasteland stripped of all life down to the microbial level.

History

Though the truth is lost, it is believed that the origins of the rift between the Aetherians and Xelusians began with a simple choice by the ruling high houses, selflessness versus selfishness. After a brother and sister “found the Devourer” and became the first Cruorlena (queen) and Umbrarex (king), a rift began between the two kingdoms. The Twin Kingdoms War began fifty thousand years before the Cataclysm War and resulted in the Aetherian imprisoning the Devourer entity within a pocket dimension, called the Land of Dust. The Gate of the Devourer became the center of Xelusian worship. Over the next 40,000 years the differences between the two kingdoms increases. Motivated by the quest for power, control, and self-gratification, the 9 high houses of Xelusia began to enslave the common people for their own entertainment, pleasure, and profiteering. The practice of blood magic and dark magic was begun and quickly accepted in spite of the cost. Perversion became so commonly practiced, even against children, that lower class parents would pay to have their children smuggled to Aetheria, sadly most of the smugglers worked for the high houses and the children ended up in the sex trade or as slave labor or as blood sources. The Xelusian royals were so convinced that the rights of the royals and upper class superseded all others, and that their way of completely free choice without consequences for all of rank, lead them into starting a disastrous 5000-year war with the Aetherians thirteen thousand years before the Cataclysm war. By the end of the First Kingdoms War only 3 Xelusian High Houses remained, the darkest and most perverse, including the ruling house of the Astra Tenebre. After nearly 9000 years of peace, The second Kingdoms Wars began. The Xelusians attacked again believing the use of Berserker warriors, those with warrior magic who used blood magic to increase their powers and homicidal natures, and Sirens, sorceress priestesses of dark oracle power (a twisted form of healing magic), would allow them to win. But 800 years into the war, they were at a stalemate with only a small foothold on Aetheria after the Temple of Light was destroyed. Due the to use of Guardians, Protectors, Mages, and Huntsmen by the Aetherians. A young Master Huntsman of the merged High Houses of Adamos and Yohphriel-Angeles, rose up to be a great war leader with the Guardian Regulus of the house of Romulus pushing the Xelusians off Aetheria. Almost two centuries later, Pods of berserker warriors and assassins were smuggled to Aetheria and attacked the families of the Guardians and Huntsmen, hundreds of innocents were killed and all but three Guardians and nine Huntsman. Together, they brought Xelusia almost to her knees before the Battle of the Sirens devastated the Aetherian forces. During the battle, the Sirens' magic forced the Aetherians to slay each other. Again the Guardian of Romulus led the Aetherian forces to victory after the Master Huntsman of Adamos and his last few apprentices hunted down and destroyed all but four of the Sirens and their families. The Black Huntsman had ruthlessly spared no one, he became the most feared person on Xelusia, and Aetheria because of his power, and to the dismay of the High King of Aetheria, one of the most respected. The siege on the crown city of Umbrahemos Templos lasted less than a quarter Lunar ( ten days) because of the aid of the Second Princess of Shadows who was half-Aetherian and believed in the Light. A ceasefire was declared and for 200 years, the Aetherians left the Xelusians in peace. But the surviving Crown Prince of the Astra Tenebre, and his eldest daughter, the Priestess and first Princess of the Shadows, devoted their time and resources to corrupting the honorable Aetherian culture. Marrying Xelusian priests and priestess into the Aetherian High Houses, and even leading the High King into the use of blood magic. Meanwhile perversion and blood madness reached an all time high on Xelusia. The appearance of a Blind Oracle, who could wield both light and dark magic, led to an increase in the timetable to the next war. The Xelusians planned on stealing the Blind Oracle from the protection of the House of Adamos and Odini by opening the Gate of the Devoured over the Kings' City. Somehow, the Blind Oracle managed to gather enough power to by drawing from its own darkness and fusing it with her light that she was able to damage the gate and shut it. Sometime later, she was shadowed by the dark energy and, after a battle that destroyed the mountain stronghold of Adamos, she came to be under the Crown Prince's care. All was going according to the prophecy. It was believed she was the one predicted by the late Cruoelena (Queen Mother) of Xelusia to be the next vessel of the entity called the Cruorlena or Siren Queen, who served as high priestess to their dark demi-god who was simply called the Devourer, with her consort, the Umbrarex or Lord of Shadows. Once the Blind Oracle was indwelt by the Cruorlena entity, she became the Dark Oracle, and was claimed by the Crown Prince as their Queen. They planned to summon the Lord of Shadows, who would indwell the Crown Prince with the sacrifice of the Second Princess. It would make them the most powerful living beings on both kingdoms and many believed would ensure Xelusia's victory over Aetheria after thousands years. However, the Blind Oracle was murdered by the First Princess, who desired the Siren Queen's power for herself. The First Princess was sent to Xelusia for punishment by her father, but was able to escape and detonate the Gate Device. It was during this time that time the Darkness began sending envoys, called Shadows, to the overworld. They went looking for those of great magical ability to become followers and to begin re-establishing their kingdom in the overworld. They found many such followers in the remnant of the Aetherians, who had survived their world's destruction. Including Damien of Adamos, younger brother of Karstien. Damien was groomed from the young age of 72 to become the next ruler of the Dark Dust realm. The Dark magic or energy of the Devourer was infused into his servant. Eventually Damien was forever killed by Karstien and his allies, turning his body to the dark dust, but that merely afforded the Darkness a new opportunity. Using Essence of Darkness, the liquid form of the Dark Dust and Dark Energy of the Devourer, they created Damien a new, more powerful body, better able to handle and channel the dark energy of the Devourer, a body that the Devourer plans to someday indwell. Later Damien kidnapped an Oracle and by using the Essence of Darkness, they were able impregnate the oracle as a surrogate for their Queen's new body. After the Queen was born, she was submerged into the Essence of Darkness and her body was aged to that of an adult in less than a year. With his new queen, the future host of the Dark Oracle, and a new group of followers, under the influence of Dark Energy and infected with Dark Dust, Prince Damien of Xelusia moved forward with a new war against his brother Karstien's Aetherian kingdom, and so the war began again.
