The Serpent War

Nosy Neighbors

The construction of Invictus Una, a wall whose purpose was to help keep Turmoil out of Exignis, was ironically the catalyst for some of the largest Turmoil incursions that Exignis had seen in a long time. As construction on the wall continued, it seems that the Turmoil events would get increasingly severe in the areas that were not yet protected by the partially completed wall, as if the Turmoil was being concentrated in those areas.   Additionally, many tribes living just near the wall's construction site regularly showed hostility towards it, presumably out of fear of losing their homeland. They would seemingly join forces with the Turmoil entities to lash out at construction workers and unfinished parts of the wall itself. A single successful attack would occasionally set construction back by weeks. As with the Turmoil events themselves, these skirmishes would become increasingly desperate and violent near the end of the wall's construction.

Slither on Over

In one of the last major conflicts of the war, a giant serpent spawned by the Turmoil was able to leap over the wall and the no man's land around it. The serpent was powerful enough to do serious damage to the entire land of Exignis. The Phoenix Exemplar herself, Hestia Zepheros, met the challenge using the legendary weapon, World Sunder. She was overpowered and defeated.   Hestia's younger brother, Scaldor Haphistos, picked up the World Sunder. The blade, responding to his passion and fury, grew strong enough to slay the Viper. He left the blade in the Viper, pinning its corpse to the ground, rotting eternally.
