Morn'Tharur

The Captive God

The Beast Below

Few mortals ever get the opportunity to see a dragon. Fewer still live to tell the tale. Rarest, indeed, are those who can say that they have well and truly dominated one.   Deep underneath Ashport's Spire of Beasts, anchored by large chains and trapped by the rubble of the old tower, lives just such a dragon. He is tended to by a pack of bronze-colored kobolds who have given him the name "Morn'Tharur", literally "The Captive God", in reverence to him.   While the kobolds do tend to him, offering food, water, and other tributes, rubble from the tower blocks them from accessing his back half. That half lies within the territory of a rival pack of gnolls, who regularly pluck his scales to use for trade.

Light at the End of the Rubble

Despite being a dragon, Morn'Tharur is a devout follower of the god Pelor. His story about how this came about is quite long, but it can be summarized as follows:
Before the Spire of Beasts became what it is, it was a firelord's palace, not unlike the Palace of Pride today. It was in those days that I was taken captive, held as no more than a trophy to show how great and powerful the leader was.   When power transferred to the new firelord, I was conveniently "forgotten" in my prison, left to rot, doomed in the darkness. Failure, it seemed, was the only companion who would never leave my side.   Unable to even end my own suffering, I longed just to see the light one last time, undeserving that I might be of even that. As if in reply to my pleas, I was greeted by none other than a blinding ray of sunlight piercing the darkness that had fallen over me. When I could finally see again, the silhouette of my savior took shape to reveal none other than a kobold, mining out the rubble to loot and pillage. Fitting, then, that they find me.   The ray of sunlight was certainly none other than the Dawnfather Pelor himself shining grace upon me.
While Morn'Tharur believes that the kobolds as divine intervention on his behalf, the kobolds believe that he is a god himself and worship him as such. He has been trying, unsuccessfully, to redirect them to worship Pelor instead.

Vices & Personality flaws

Circumstances thus far have made this dragon very depressed, indeed.   He believes that he does not deserve freedom, though it is unclear why this may be.
