Acrusia

Acrusia is located in the central plains region of Ellonia. The Grand General rules over all of Acrusia, aided by his advisors and other Generals who each control a region. Since its founding, Acrusia has always had a "survival of the fittest" mentality and does well to reward its strongest through the country's prevailing religion, the Cult of Pleasure.   After the Demonic War, followers of The Immortal Swordsman founded the Order of the Immortal Sword in Noxion. Its founders swore that after the Swordsman was gone, they would spread his story and continue his legacy as protectors of the realm of Aeterna. For a time, the Order was one of the most respected institutions in Acrusia, with a temple in every settlement. Generations passed, and slowly, the tales of the Swordsman's deeds became legends, and the Order's following dwindled. Now, only one of the temples remains in use - the first temple in Noxion - but still, its following reduced from hundreds to only a few dozen.   When the Dragons invaded from the Underdark, and the Giants banded together and descended into the depths, the cowardly Hill Giants remained in the plains of central Ellonia. They went undisturbed for a time, as many kingdoms were still rebuilding from the Draconic Invasion. When Acrusia moved to take over central Ellonia, they captured many of the Hill Giants as weapons of war and entertainment in the Colosseum.

History

After the Demonic War, there was a time when there were Human countries aplenty across Ellonia. At this time, Acrusia was only the city of Noxion, but even then it valued strength and military power highly. At this time, Noxion's primary religion was to (Placeholder), the God of War. While their army was massive, they remained peaceful with their many trade partners, which allowed them to prosper for many years.   In time, some of these partners attempted renegotiating their trades with Noxion. The King of Noxion refused to accept the new terms. Upon rejecting, the kingdoms stopped their trade routes hoping to starve them out. The King's military advisor discussed their advantages and advised war to annex the noncompliant settlements for their resources.   Though prepared, Noxion's military was much stronger than anticipated, and Noxion's enemies either surrendered or were wiped out. This rapid expansion led to forming the Kingdom of Acrusia with Noxion as its capital. The King gifted the annexed cities to the Generals that took them, making them Lords of Acrusia. Once established, Acrusia now had free access to all of the resources which they once needed to trade for. Acrusia became a superpower on the continent, taking up most of central Ellonia, and ushered in an era of growth for the country.   At the same time, a new cult begun to arise in Acrusia - the Cult of Pleasure. The burgeoning cult saw opportunity in the fierce warriors that earned Acrusia its superpower status. The cultists pandered to the soldiers' sense of paramountcy and offered finer rewards than gold and jewels. The Cult gave adulation to Acrusian heroes, and provided its delights to those that spread praise of the Cult's doctrine. The Cult's following spiked as more Acrusians flocked to the temples of debauchery. In time, the Cult's influence would eclipse even that of the God of War.
