Valcoast
Nestled on the edge of the Valor Bay, Valcoast is the shipping capital of Requiem. Set upon a rocky coastline hasn't stopped this port city from propelling Requiem into its current position as a powerful kingdom - letting the verdant farms of the hills feed its ever expanding exporting, and the coin from cities like the Hilt its imports. Even if ships don't intend to finish their journey in Valcoast - be it entering or leaving the Half Hand River where the Hilt sits - most stop within Valcoast for resupply and rest. The city has gained a reputation as a marketplace, its docks filled with shacks selling all manner of goods. That doesn't touch the central district. Atop a rocky hill rests what many of dubbed the "Coin Flow" for that's what happens. Dozens of taverns, shops, market stalls, and guild halls line the streets under in the centre of Valcoast - feeding the city coin through its connection to the docks, a set of underground tunnels that let cargo and passengers leave boats and start shopping within minutes. From on high rests the rich and powerful, the nobility disconnected from the masses but for a single bridge connecting a pair of tall, rocky hills. Ricasso bridge lets the nobility watch from above, and keeps the various drunks and disorderlies out. Those within the upper district, and especially the ancient keep of Hrimona appreciate the distance.
Valcoast is also known for the Changing Leaves festival, a 3 days long festival celebrating the coming Autumn harvests and hard work of summer. Many wear masks for days on end, only removing them when autumn officially arrives to symbolise a great change.
