Baleful Miasma

Oh by the swords this one threw all of us off. We had heard of a haunting underneath a church in Orelin and so had to check it out. Well, it turns out it wasn't a haunting because despite the appearance of this monster it is NOT undead. Mornthel found that out the hard way and nearly suffocated. It was our newest member at the time, Sebastian Navarro who recognised them as a form of elemental. We presume an air elemental, poisoned by the cities air.    To be clear, these things look very similar to wraiths or banshees or spectres but they are not. Clerical spells that normally deal with undead aren't applicable here.    (Mornthels Notes: Damage from my scared flame still worked, thank the masks, but channelling my faith did nothing but have me embarrassed!)
Combat notes? Hit them hard and avoid getting stuck in their bodies. If you do, seemingly hit it until it dies because they will attach themselves to you and follow. They are resistant to standard attacks, but Chiaras swings from Placate seemed to do better than Navs enchanted bow strikes.    The most dangerous thing you can be here is what we were, caught of guard. We put a lot into Mornthel hitting them with some holy spells and being done with it and when that didn't work and she started suffocating we panicked. Don't panic, make sure you know exactly what these guys are.   Also, they stink. Rotten eggs and old mould. Bring perfume for when your done

Basic Information

Anatomy

They appear as a form of wispy air, as if under a shrowd. A dark green-black that moves like a ghost. A pair of very bright red eyes peek out under a hood of gross gas but they are seemingly just for show.

Biological Traits

These things can move through very small spaces but not through solid objects, which was a tell for us. Though they can move in a way that your are encompassed by them. This seems to be their primary way of killing, moving themselves onto your and suffocating you in noxious gas. Mornthel threw up in her mask and wasn't feeling well afterwards. Too long in this can have lasting side effects, which we saw in some church staff - heavy fevers and a sickness of some sort.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

These things are smart, speaking some form of primordial which Nav swears was Aurun, but none of us speak aurun so we didn't far with that. Either way, they're aggressive and attacked us on sight.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They moved around fine in the dark, so they have the ability to see in blackness.
