Kiwet

The Kiwet are a race of flying bipedal mortals. They inhabit the Skeffe Isles.

Multicoloured

The colour of the Kiwet's feathers indicate the role the person has in the community, as it indicates the strength and hollowness of their bones, and durability of their wings. A greenish blue indicates lighter, hollower bones, as well as more dexterous limbs. This means the Kiwet is more suited towards jobs inside the community, such as blacksmiths or Waxsmiths. Kiwet with gold and brown colouring will have stronger bones and limbs, as well as thicker, heavier wings. These Kiwet are designated as hunters and warriors.

Surprise Entrance

The Kiwet did not always live on Aervos Prime. It is unknown which realm they inhabited originally, but it is speculated that they were one of the first races, inhabiting one of the first child realms. History says that the Kiwet lived in this realm for a long period of time. However, something went wrong inside the realm, and it began to collapse in on itself. It is still argued as to what happened to the realm. Desperate, the Kiwet opened up a gateway to Aervos Prime, and sent countless large shards of Skeffe Core into the ground. Known as the Skyfall, the Shards embedded themselves in the ground, then eventually started floating, taking the earth with it. They formed the Skeffe isles, and the Kiwet quickly moved onto the islands.

War of the Sky

The Kiwet had to defend their home islands once human nations tried to colonize the islands. In what was known as the War of the Broken Sky, Kiwet fought humans for control of the islands. In the end, after many losses from both sides, a treaty gave the largest island to the humans, and the settlement that would later become Askelia was formed.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Kiwet are very birdlike in appearance, with colourful feathers covering their bodies instead of hair or fur. The colour of their feathers depend of the sex and role of the Kiwet. They are slightly taller than humans, around 6-7 feet. They have heads similar to hummingbirds, with large eyes and a sharp, long beak. Their beaks are extremely sharp, capable of penetrating many types of armour. Their limbs are skinny, and they have thin bones that allow them to fly. The Kiwet have eight pairs of small, fan-like wings running down their back, which are how they fly. They can fold their wings in to protect them, or use them as a shield if reinforced.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Kiwet's main diet are large wasp-like creatures, called Hakketut that also inhabit the underbelly of the Skeffe isles. The creatures make nests in the bottom parts of the islands, creating a special kind of honey called Tullem. The Kiwet raid these nests, using their long straw-like beaks to withdraw the honey. The hunters will carve off large portions of the nest, sparing as many Wasps as possible, and taking the nests to the islands to feed the rest of the community.
