League of Swords Moonsteel

The swashbuckler’s scimitar flashed and circled in the air, as the wisps of arcane writing that were spread over the blade began to glow. The shield in his hand glowed with the same spidery script, as he prepared himself for the inevitable strike of lightning by his sorcerous foe. The bolt of eldritch energy shot towards him and careened off the shield, striking a nearby tree, lighting it ablaze. The swashbuckler smiled at his enemy, gave a little wink and dashed forward to do battle.   There are many kinds of ore, metals, and forged items throughout all of Aerith. Many races are adept at forging and creating weapons and armour of exceptional quality. Dwarves, Goliaths, and Humans make excellent heavy weapons and armour, items of solid use that help protect their races, and make life easier. Elves and Gnomes make lighter, more intricate, and specialized items that combine beauty with functionality.   Three types of specialized metals can be found on Starhelm; Airsteel, Rocksteel, and Moonsteel.  The items they create are unique and wondrous. The unique and rare merging of Airsteel and Rocksteel, called Moonsteel is detailed below.   Moonsteel is a rare metal forged exclusively by the League of Swords, and is a closely guarded secret. It is a mix of both Airsteel and Rocksteel making it ideal for both precision hits and devastating damage. Moonsteel is not magical by nature but it is ideal for enchanting as it absorbs even the smallest amount of magic cast onto it. It is white, perpetually-glowing metal.   This extremely rare metal is the product of an experiment by founder of the League of Swords, Tristan Tru-Arc. He spent many years and much effort perfecting this union of metals. Even the Dwarves or Elves could not duplicate his creation (and most of them would not bother trying). By combining the two metals and the styles of the two races Tristan was able to forge a weapon that could succeed against any foe.   As with Airsteel and Rocksteel, the qualities and benefits of Moonsteel vary depending on the level of ore present in the item in question.   It is a rare gift indeed to be presented with an item of Moonsteel and many of the Moonsteel items in someone’s possession came from a treasure hoard or by way of theft. There are only two known full-Moonblades on Aerith, both forged and previously wielded by Tristan Tru-Arc. One resides in his well-guarded tomb, and the other is on display at the League of Swords. There has never been a full set of Moonsteel armour, although Korv Forgebarer, the Grand Master of the The League of Swords, has spent over 100 years crafting a suit of armour and is not close to being done.   The process for Moonsteel is a closely guarded secret that only a handful of people currently know. Other than Moonsteel being a mix of Rocksteel, Airsteel, and Moonstone, not a lot is known about the process.   Moonsteel is incredibly absorbent of magic. As such, Moonsteel weapons can absorb magic from almost any magical source, even going so far as to cut through magic.   Refined Moonsteel has a constant glow to it. Any items made with Moonsteel shed bright light out 10 feet and dim light out an additional 10 feet.   Though not as protective as a set of Moonsteel armour, a Moonsteel shield is still better than a normal shield. With it you reduce the damage taken from slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing damage and the user can still hold objects in the shield hand. You can also cast Shield once a long rest.
