The creation of the world
This world is very much a work in progress, so please forgive any continuity mishaps
The most common and widely believed myth regarding creation is that of the three brother-gods.
The first brother, Seren, created the universe: the planets, the moons, the rivers and seas, the mountains and skies. He was the architect of the universe, sculpting every detail with care.
The second brother, Anwo, seeing his brother's beautiful work, wanted to help his brother and to make something just as beautiful. So, he created life: every creature and plant, from the smallest of bacterium to the largest of trees. It was a stunning complement to the handiwork of Seren, as varied and colorful as the landscapes and worlds the first brother had created.
The third brother, Ju, seeing the beauty of his older brothers' work, noticed there was no-one else to see and enjoy it apart from the three brothers. He wept at the thought that none would see the masterpiece his brothers had spent much of their power creating, for the plants and animals the Anwo had created were wonderful but were only dumb chattel, with no soul and no ability to enjoy the beauty of the universe.
And so Ju created Eno, those-of-souls, who could see and love the creation of the brothers. But souls cannot come from nowhere: Ju took half of his own soul and spread it within the Eno, giving them life as surely as he doomed his own.
Souls naturally long to return from whence they came. The souls of Eno slowly escape their bodies and return to Ju. The half-soul of Ju slowed escaped his body to be reunited with the half within the Eno.
Ju lived for another 2000 years, before the last of his soul escaped from his body. Either the pieces of his soul decided that chilling in outer space was close enough to the rest of the soul, or his brothers like, caught the pieces of his soul and enshrined them in the universe he died for. Either way, the pieces of his soul became the stars.
When the Eno die, their souls too become stars, joining their ancestors and their most beloved god. They exist in a sort of dreamlike state, benignly watching over their loved ones below, but mostly distracted with communing with their ancestors and god.
See notebook and "ju and his soul" for ideas on power levels of blessings etc.
Summary
There were once three brother-gods.
The first was Seren, who carved the universe and the worlds.
The second was Anwo, who blessed it with life.
The third was Ju, who created those-with-souls, the Eno.
But souls cannot be created: he tore his soul in two and gave the Eno a half, sprinkling it among them and giving them unique minds, emotions, personalities, etc.
Souls long to be whole. the souls of Eno long to return to the half-soul of Ju, and the half-soul of Ju longs for its other half. Both escaped their bodies and are now one in the heavens, watching over us, guiding us, and blessing us: the stars.
Historical Basis
It is entirely factual, because i mean someone gotta be right.
Spread
it's pretty common knowledge. Everyone knows it and most believe it, however half-hearted. Some believe in Nauka (science) and some believe in Sey Degil (the nothing). More on other myths later.
In Literature
There's quite a lot of poems on Ju's sacrifice, and a lot of books defending the myth.
In Art
So so many artworks. The Creation is a particularly famous one in which the three brothers are depicted fashioning their various parts of the universe, showing Ju forming the Eno from dust and his own blood (soul, as the blood carries the soul).
The Death of Duse (a popular moniker for Ju) shows Ju dying in his weeping brothers' arms.
Loads of statues of the three brothers too, of course.
