Council of Longbeards

The Council of Longbeards is the ruling legislative party of Min Dubor. It is comprised of 5 individuals, usually dwarves of at least a few hundred years old, who have the wisdom and experience to rule and form laws for their people. When a Longbeard passes, the existing Longbeards together with the Matriarch will decide the next Longbeard to step into the vacant position, usually basing their decision on the wishes of the people. An individual cannot become a Longbeard without the consent of the Matriach, the only true power she possesses. They are often, but not required to be, men.
Min Dubor was once a monarchy as Grim Angaz on the side of the continent remains, but changed to this parliamentary system some time in the Fourth Age.
