Birth of a Desert

Deserts are often seen as a place of death but if you know its secrets, you will find that it is filled with life.
The Ever-Light was hosting a banquet for all the other gods in the realm. As they arrived, the sun Goddess greeted the Emperor and his lovely wife warmly and they returned the greeting with smiles and laughter.
As the evening grew late, the only that remained was the wife of the Emperor and the Goddess herself who hosted for her guest without tire. All that was left of the food was a large pot of stew that the Goddess was still cooking. She left the soup unattended for a moment, just long enough for a serpent to slither in and make its way into the soup. The Ever-Light unknowingly served the soup to the war gods' wife. As she ate it, she immediately became pregnant, ready for birth but also poisoned by the snake.
The Ever-Light, although shocked with surprise, was able to birth the baby but was unable to save the life of the mother. The Emperor's wife lay dead in the kitchen of the Ever-Light. Fearful of his wrath for herself and the baby, she took it to a faraway land to hide it. She found a place where the land concaved, she placed the baby in a silver bowl and filled it with the water of life.
She spoke to the child, "I cannot watch over you for long, but I will make it so that your mother and her love protect you forever" The Ever-Light took the body of the mother and brought it to her domain. As her body burned, the ashes rained down over the baby and land around him creating the deserts that would protect and hide the child for its own good.
