VGold

A currency only exchanged in Khuurmag, VGold was created 20 years ago by a scientist named Bodonchar Khudal as a means to cut down on the production of Gold and to offer people around the world more ways to express themselves. His solution to these posed problems was the first ever virtual currency, a currency whose existence has spawned a diverse marketplace of Mockro-transactions which the populace of Khuurmag are absolutely obsessed with. The currency also determines one's influence in the city's governmental structure, as the owner of the most VGold is crowned Khan of Khuurmag; that honor falling to Khan Möngönii as of 5 years ago.

Utility

VGold is used by the everyday Khuurmaagan primarily for gambling at various locations around Tsetserleg and for Mockro-transactions from the VGold Marketplace. Though some of the Mockro-transactions have combat capabilities, their primary use is for fashion.
Some Khuurmaagans, especially those among the Shoroo, have also devised ways to hack other's Mind Merger's in order to steal their owner's VGold, however this has resulted in quite a number of accidental murders due to the failure of the hacked Mind Merger.

Social Impact

Almost immediately, VGold took ahold of the Khuurmaagan populace thanks to wide advertisement of the technology combined with its flashiness. Mockro-transactions initially became something of a status symbol among people in Tsetserleg, where the more expensive the Mockro-transaction you owned, the higher you were valued among your peers.
This mindset eventually evolved to even influence the Khuurmaagan governmental structure, creating the city's Plutocran Monarchy.  This government structure decides that whoever touts the most VGold becomes Khan, having immense power not only within the city itself but over all of its policies regarding the currency.  Khan Ersdel, the city's previous Khan, though the initiator of the city's change in governmental structure and initially a huge proponent of VGold itself now slams the currency, saying its influence on the government has only encouraged the rich and greedy to become even richer and greedier.

Complexity

The techonology operates through the use of the Mind Merger Arcsthetic, where the rune inscribed on one's skull becomes more intuned with their body the more VGold they have.  In this way, VGold is a currency made of magical energy itself.  Each individual piece of VGold comes from Khuurmag's VGold Bank, where its authenticity is solidified due to a unique magical signature that only the bank can create.  In fact, every piece of VGold adds every holder of that specific piece to its unique magical signature, becoming a magical paper-trail of the VGold's transferrance between owners.
A fashionable Arcsthetic which routes into the Mind Merger called the "Runic Counter" can be added in order to show the total VGold of its holder.  This Arcsthetic also contains an illusiory projector, which allows for purchased Mockro-transactions from the VGold Marketplace to be shown on and around its owner.  It goes without saying that the vast majority of Testserleg's population have this Arcsthetic installed in themselves.
